The Great Unclean One, is pretty damn tough in combat. Other than that I really only know about warriors of chaos....not daemons. I have skimmed through their book though.

expensive points wise so you will field less models. I haven't really played them in 8th edition but rank and file troops tend to be where it is at, and I think maybe you should ask a Chaos Deamons player. I don't think they have a lot of rank and file troops. If you out number your opponent and have at least 1 rank you are steadfast and test under your normal leadership in combat resolutions.
I just know the Great Unclean One is nasty. He makes everyone strike last, his sword can do D3 wounds, and he has 10 wounds himself. I don't think I would ever try to attack that thing head on, but try to kill it form a distance.

They are a top notch army. Not a lot of shooting, but some of the best foot troops in the game. Chaos Warriors, Chaos Knights, and marauders whoop it up. Chaos Magic is pretty decent too, and the Tzeench gifts make your magic better. I have played them several times as my buddy has an army of them. The only thing you gotta prepare yourself for is when you play armies that have all sorts of shooting they can launch at you. Otherwise Warriors of Chaos are some of the best hand to hand troops in the game.

Do you play 40k daemons?
Or what is your preferred 40k army?
WHFB daemons in 7th were the IG/SW of Fantasy. In 8th the took a step back but it was the good kind of nerf as being a daemon player it was hard to find games.(Or so I've heard as I actually never played 7th ed).

Daemons a better choice based on those 2 opponents, Herald of Tzeentch with Master of Sorcery pickup Lore of Death, wait take 2 of these guys and take Lore of Death and Lore of Shadow and get Purple Sun and Pit of Shades and you will tear up Ogres and Orcs with their low Initiative. Bloodletters do well for core, typically goes Bloodletters>Pink Horrors=Plague Bearers>Daemonettes. As for rares Fiends do pretty good at war machine hunting but flamers are the best think they are like D6 Str 5 shots per model or some crazy thing like that and flaming attacks. Specials are so so.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd
-Alexis de Tocqueville. |
