Im looking to get a road system for my recently finished urban terrain set.
I know GW did a road mat some time ago but it seems to be OOP now?
Did S6 engineering have a 40k road system too at one point? (I cant find it amongst search results).

The roads would need to cover a 4x4 foot area, possibly more. Im based in Ireland so shipping from US/Aus etc isnt worth the money invested.

Any help appreciated.

Amera mouldings do a nice hard plastic road system, along with several buildings. I don't own the roads, but their products are good quality for the price

Go to your local GW and ask them to check their stock system for the road system. I know a few of the stores still have them on their stock systems even if they aren't still on general sale.

Could always make your own, as well. While they might be a bit too coarse (don't want to be grinding your tank treads off with what amounts to super-coarse sandpaper), I've contemplated cutting strips off of black roofing shingles to serve as road sections. Use a disposable blade to score from the back until you can tear the section off, stencil on some lines (mask with paper/tape then either stipple or spray) and you're good to go.

I've actually heard of black sandpaper being used in the same way, as well. A heavy spray of matte varnish helps keep it from grinding down your models. Neither can be rolled up, like the old GW road, but short sections stacked up still store quite easily.

Ashphalt scatter from the train scenic peoples on some card/plastic card.

Have some but not used it yet, so can't say whether it would be abrasive or not

To avoid sandpaper wearing down the tank treads, just stop pushing them along making putt-putt engine noises!

What the hell? People actually do that? I don't believe it!

not sure where you live, but the ashphalt (sp?) shingles make great roads. It's clearly a bit more work, but its a good option.

Vinyl flooring.
ONE metre (or whatever unit it is sold by if you don't use metric) length of it will do about 6 linear metres of roads (that's around 20 FEET for the metric challenged).

Comes in charcoal grey and can be cut with a sharp knife or scissors. It's what I'll be using on my next table. Works out at around 1/4 the cost of the GW roll of road (and gives you more roads, too).
