No.
SA states that it must be specifically over-written to be ignored.
WBB does not mention it.

See above.
WBB is a special rule that attempts to save a unit, and does NOT *specify* that it ignores SA
SA states that NO special rule may attempt to save a unit UNLESS it specifies it overrides SA.
As WBB does not specify it overrides SA, it doesnt.
In addition: any models from the unit awaiting WBB are also removed, as they are still members of the unit.

Lol Gamesworkshop customer service just said that a Res Orb can allow a Necron unit WBB against Sweeping advance.

You do get WBB from sweeping advance.
Oh wait - I wasn't supposed to read from the codex from the future... Dang.
In all seriousness though, nah you don't get it. It's just an unfortunate bi-product of the combat/morale/sweeoing advance rules now. It used to be much different.

No, no it didnt. In 4th edition you did NOT get WBB from Swweeping advance - it was even given as an *example* of a special rule that didnt work.
The wording of SA between 4th and 5th also hasnt changed - the only difference is the removal of the WBB example. Thats it.
The reason eveyone is crying so much about it in 5th edition is that SA is much much much more common now. Previously Necrons could count on, on average, making a LD9 or 10 test (-1 for being below 50% or -1 for being ounumbered 2:1, not much else unless a huge swarm got them) each round before having the chance to Veil away. That doesnt happen in 5th...

I didn't mean you got it in previous editions, what I meant was that you're now much more vulnerable due to the combat resolution rules (which as you say used to be much different in 3rd Ed!).

Ah right - the text implied a change to sweeping advance had occured, rather than it getting triggered more often due to an increase in failed tests
No worries!

The joy of the English language
Glad noone has attempted to say they somehow do get WBB, as digging up the old threads to prove them wrong, and stop it turning into another multiple page killer, would have been tedious

Actually given as that it states that when they're down they no longer need to maintain coherency and merely join the nearest unit when they do get back up they technically cease being part of that particular unit.

This is not true. They CAN join another unit when they stand, but until they do. . .they are part of the original unit.

Nixti - seriously, did you miss the part about "this is settled, dont start it again?"
No, they are still part of their unit. Read the monolith rules. Read the FAQ about squads falling back. Even better, have a search for the 9001 times this has come up before and spot the conclusion....

I'm actually looking at the codex now and it says they only get their WWB rolls if within 6 inches of a model of the same type and attach to the nearest unit upon successful roll. Heck even the Necron FAQ says
"Necrons Falling Back
Q. What happens if a Necron squad is forced to
fall back and comes within 6" of Necron
casualties of the same type from another unit? If
those Necrons make their WBB roll, do they join
this unit, even if it is broken?
A. They must join the closest unit, even if the unit
in range is broken, the new troops can join this
unit. If they join a unit that is broken, the unit
remains broken. If they join a broken unit, the
repaired Necrons fall back with the broken unit.
If the new models raise the troop strength above
50%, it will meet the 50% criteria for regrouping
and may regroup at the appropriate time."
When they get back up they join the nearest unit.

There's another FAQ question about whether or not the corpses are moved along with the unit or left lying. They move with the unit, which has been extrapolated as meaning that if the unit is removed, so are they.
I wish it weren't so, and you'll not find anything explicit saying that they don't get WBB (at least anything official), but that is the conclusion every non-necron player and a few Cron players too) seems to come to.
NB:
Previous editions of the rulebook don't count, that's why they're previous...
General consensus is that if you're moved with the unit, and the unit is moved to the carrying case, the dead ones go too.

Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so

Per the codex, they are part of the unit. As already said, read the Monolith rules, says so right there.

I think the FAQ state that "necrons removed from sweeping advance can never self-repair".
The french FAQ says it, I'm pretty sure.
