Have just looked over the FAQ's section and one glearing question goes unanswered: what does "dakka dakka" mean?
The only thing i can think of is the noise (speaking) of the bad guys in team america world police!
Hope i don't seem like a complete plum for asking!

Its the sound a ork gun makes when fired in the 40k universe.
If the gun doesn't make this Dakkadakkadakka sound on its own then the ork will yell it so other orks don't think he's a wimp and stub out their cigars on the back of his neck.
As for why DakkaDakka.com is called that, I believe its because the preferred domain name was taken, and so they used DakkaDakka instead as a joke.
There is an article that explains this somewhere...

Dakka dakka dakka = pew pew pew to Orks.
Also, generally used to mean Firepower.
Moar Dakka = More Firepower.
Either way, sweet word =D

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

I love when people see me on here and I explain this to them and they are completely confused

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that. |
