The box set costs $90 USD
I have a someone who is looking to trade me retail for retail, only hitch is his trade is from the box set.
SO his logic is AoBR marines are worth 1 of mine SM tactical squads.
I don't think this is fair, and am looking for a second opinion.
Is it rude to offer him $45 USD worth of models seeing how that's half the box set cost?
Or is that too much because it comes with a rulebook, dice, terrain, and templates (don't forget the orks of course)
Any feedback would be greatly appreciative.

If you don't mind the static poses it shouldn't be a big deal. The advantage regular tac marines have is their posability. However, once they're already glued, it's difficult to change said poses.
Another factor, perhaps, sounds that you're looking at it cost wise. In this aspect, I think you're correct. Is he offering all of the SM units from AOBR... if so, then half the cost of the box if they're NOS sounds fair. Assembled or painted always drops the value of the model. Or... is he only offering you the Tac marines in a straight trade one for one? AOBR marines are less-expensive than regular tac marines. In fact, there are many trades on dakka that state they don't want AOBR units, but regular ork or SM models.
Ultimately it's up to how you like them to look pose-wise. If you don't feel good about it, don't make the trade. Follow your feelings. Use the Force! (sorry, that's not 40k but I couldn't resist)

Look up the average cost of just getting the marines from the set. Which should work out to be about half, or less of the box. Also consider in that 90$ cost is the rule book which normally goes for 15$, a dread that goes for another 11$ or so, and templates that eat another 3$. so 18$ the box goes to non-army specific items. So you are working with 72$. Half of 72$ would 36$ and dropping another 11$ from that would put you at 25$.
So with all of that really you are looking at trading 1 tac squad for all of the AoBR marines. Rough prices used, but that is where I see most of them selling at on feebay.

I normally view the AoBR stuff in thirds.
$30 for the Marines
$30 for the Orks
$30 for everything else.
Even if you hit EBay, the only items that usually sell for a "decent" amount are the Terms and the Dread. Even then, you might only get $30 for both of those items.
To me, as Max pointed out for some, the Tacs and Captain are practically worthless.

I don't care personally for the AoBR tac marines so much. I also never use them in games.
I personally would not do it.

Toss him $50 for the Marine half plus the other stuff. Don't trade those models for general retail models, as you're coming out behind in that deal by a bit.

The original trade: BA army for a SW army (mine).
Retail mine comes out to $473 while his only was $409
He was going to throw in some BT stuff but thats also from AoBR as I found out.
However of the models he was trading among other things.
2 Tactical squad were from AoBR
1 Dread
1 Squad of Termies
2 Tactical Squad came to 77+
1 Dread 44+
1 Squad of Termies 50
So that total = 170ish
So GW retail if those items were bought not in the AoBR set would be 170ish a big bargaining chip - but is he only spent $90 for the box I feel I'm getting swindled a bit.

The average value I see AOBR stuff going for, both the ork set and the marine set, is $35. Not that this really matters as you are free to value them as you wish.

Personally i would just buy the AOBR stuff off ebay if you want it for cheaper than the trade he offerring. sounds like he is parting the box out for more than its worth

Well its a bigger package than just AoBR but they do take up a big chunk, I just don't want to get the short end of the stick.
Trading $500 worth of models for less than $300 doesn't sit right in my check book.
Now if him and I determine his stuff is of lesser value being it AoBR, I'm sure he will though in his BT stuff just as it sits now I'm cautious.
Thank you everyone for your input!

Are you sure that the Dread & Termies you mention aren't from AoBR as well?
And how did you find out that the Tac squads were from AoBR? If he was being dishonest about their worth and didn't tell you until you called him on it, you probably shouldn't deal with him at all. That's what I would do, personally. There are plenty of honest people you could deal with instead, I'm sure.

The dread and termies are AoBR as well.
I'm hoping if I call him out on it (which I have) he will fix the imbalance if not then no deal.
I found out the models were AoBR because instead of pictures he sent me to his youtube channel where he gloats about saving money due to purchasing AoBR with a friend who took the orks.

I personally like the AOBR tac guys, they are MILES beyond the goon marines we got in the second ed box. The full tactical squad usually goes for less than $20 on ebay. If I remember right I got mine for like $12 but I don't remember for sure.

I'm not too stoked about the latest Tact box.
I prefer to use helmetted SMs where possible, and I can't get a helmet-head into the torso with the big collar. It looks the most suitable for a Sergeant but I don't like the bare heads :(

I haven't purchased anything from GW since 2005 so I have no experience with any of the new kits. All my models I guess could be considered OOP like the Grey Hunters and Blood Claws box sets. Now those have been combined into something called a Wolf Pack or something.
Granted it's still the same quality of plastic, these new kits sound higher customizable and full of new goodies!

Speaking for myself, I would only place a value of possibly $15 on every SM fig in the AOBR box, I actually bought the box and got rid of the entire lot (except templates and rule book. Value is in the eye of the beholder on here, if you think its a good deal then do it.
My advise though is that he seems to possibly be less than honest with you so you may want to just trade with someone else on here, there are plenty of good up front traders here for you to deal with.

I'd compare to eBay prices. AOBR marines are not worth that much, I would never trade 1 squad for a tac marine squad.

Oh great story so I called him on the AoBR issue, and the deal went south from there. The BA army was suddenly "sold" by his brother when he wasn't home and all he has left is his BT which are 50% AoBR.
I guess I'm doomed in starting a Space Marine army lolz.

I don't like the AoBR bc it has the Ultramarines shoulder pads. However I have a baggie full of stripped ones if anyone is interested for cheap.

My AoBR stuff has no specific shoulders, and all are plain. I bought it at the start of this year, if they were originally Ultra.
