Okay guys, I need an optimal, all comers army that will tear up in the mid-May GT. I played my first game with the new codex and had a lot of fun. So I'm thinking about expanding upon that list and seeing what can be done.

So I had a couple Ideas last night to make the list a little more elite by adding in some purifiers. That'll give me two units who can be more assaulty then the normal troops GKSS, I'll have an extra attack with them, and be fearless, plus have the bonus of having Cleansing Flame. What do you guys think of this list also?

I think the first list has more 'staying power' in number of models, but on the other hand you will always have the option to make some purifiers scoring during objective missions, and they do give you an answer to big horde units.

I would go for the second list, but I'm not sure how well the storm raven will work - very big target, not too tough. Do you really need dozer blades on every tank?

Dozer blades... maybe maybe not... I have a tendency to roll 1s when it comes to any 2+ save

You don't want hammers on your Justicar because if the psychic test is failed the Justicar will die along with the hammer and master crafted weapon :(

Ooh... that's a really good point. But then how do you make up for the loss of attack and being master crafted?

Is it worth taking the risk to have it on the Justicar?

Well that's catch 22 isn't it.

against armies like tyranids where you are rolling 3 dice for the check, it can be risky.
with squads where the judi doesnt get an extra attack, i would leave him bare and put a normal hammer on another model, with squads like your strikers where they are outfitted for ranged and wont be hammerhanding or purifying flaming every turn, its probably worth it to keep it on the judi for the 50% more attacks.

use the saved points for rad grenades on the BC (off the top of my head i dont remember if he can take them, but they are very seriously nice)
Depending on the ruling I'd rather give my terminators the falchions than the halbards since with them + BC +grenades the only problem witha 5 man squad is they dont get many attacks (though this is partly fixed by the banner)

Ok so it sounds like we like the list with the Purifiers more. The notes so far are really good and are things I've not thought of yet. So here's a little rewrite of the list. I'm thinking I could get rid of the Banner possibly for two GKTs with Falcions. This will give the +4 attacks the banner kind of gave, the GM misses out though. But allows for those extra 15 points to allow the GM to have Psycotroke and Rad Grenades. I also pulled the Daemon Hammer off the Justicar in the Purifier Squads and put on normal models. This opens up some points to put the Servo Skulls into the list.

How do you guys feel about this one now?

I believe only HQ choices and Xenos Inquisitor can take rad grenades.

Techmarines can too... And there seem to be quite a few on the Net insane about using them for the grenades but at 105 base for a 1 wound model with grenades it really is a hard sell for me.

The Grandmaster sure did get expensive all of a sudden

Are we thinking that the Sword is better then the Halberd on the GM.

And is it worth having both Psycotroke and Rad grenades on him?

I would just stick with the Rad grenades, honestly, especially if you have any plans to put the GM with a purifier unit. Have the GM cast hammerhand, cleansing flame with the purifiers and still get to go before almost everything else with 9 halberd attacks and 4 nf sword attacks wounding basically anything that's not a MC or a special character on 2+. That's going to reduce a unit to practically nothing making the psychotrokes less useful.

I also dunno if falchions are worth it in that 5 man squad. You're bloating the hell out of that unit, more than doubling the cost of the unit with all of those upgrades. I'd probably stick to just a hammer and a psycannon at most.

And yes, sword on GM for a 3++ in cc is way better with i5 imo.

Actually the Falcions only add 10 points to the GKTs or all of a 5% increase in cost

But I'll be running the lord with the GKTs because well it's the only transport that'll take him and them.

I think I"ll try out the psychotroke today and see what happens. Could be interesting.

Just got done playing my first game at 2k. Was lots of fun. Played against my buddies Vulkan list which is quite a pain.

We played Dawn of War Kill Points and I went first. I ended up winning the game 8-12 KPs.

The DK is a very awesome guy, ended up taking out a Librarian, a Squad of Marines, his Land Raider and a IronClad Dread.

Psychotroke didn't seem to do much, but it didn't help that he rolled Snake Eyes with his Terminators at LD1.

The Stormraven did ok, was basically a 200pt ride that got the Terminators on the board and 24"s in before it went down to a Lascannon.

Vindicare was good, shame I spent a turn moving, and then immobolized the LR the next turn and died to his DSIronClad with a melta to the face.

I was also very impressed with the Psyfle Dreads. They have the range I'm not used to and the firepower to pop lighter tanks. They ended up taking out a Pred and Vindicator in the second turn but then were harrassed by scouts in a Storm and the IronClad.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep your back rank safe from DS and fast units?
