So I was playing around with some ideas, and came up with a list kinda centered around the stormraven.

HQ : grand master mordrak

Troops:
2x 5 GK terminators, psycannon, various force weapons.

FA: 10x Interceptors in stormraven

Stormraven gunship w multimelta, las cannons, and hurricane bolter sponsons plus teleport homer beacon

Heavy support:

Nemesis dread knight, Heavy psycannon, Gatling psilencer, and nemesis greatsword.


Deepstike the grand master and 1 unit of terminators with no scatter, flat out move the stormraven and drop interceptors with no scatter, make em scoring with grand strategy, add 1 to reserve rolls with mordrak's psychic power, and fly the gunship wherever I need the other terms and the dread for precision reinforcements. What do you think?

As far as I can remember, Mordrack is not an IC, thus he cannot join the unit of terminators. You'd have to take a ghost terminator retinue, and I'm fairly confident they can't take gun upgrades.


Also I don't think that many interceptors can fit in a stormraven. All jump infantry count as two for the purposes of transporting in a chibi-hawk.

I do not think that those storm ravens are worth it. You are paying a lot for medium vehicles which can't really get cover saves. If you deployment doesn't work ideally, you will find youself without many models or options. I do not think you have enough high-strength ranged weapons in the army.

hm, I'd still be able to fit 6 interceptors in the stormraven though, and there's another psycannon there.

the thing is I won't really need ranged with this list, the ability to non scatter deepstrike deamon hammers into the enemy lines should give me what I need. The codex does mention "mordrak or any unit that he joins" so I'm fairly certain he would count as an independent character, otherwise the wordage as such is very silly.

The value of being in the right place at the right time on the battlefield is certainly not to be underestimated, and the mobility brought by a stormraven is nothing to sneeze at, not to mention it's still loaded up with heavy weaponry anyways.

Its silly wordage i am afraid.He ( Mordrak ) does not have the Independant Character special rule ( Crowe does not have it either ),so cannot join a unit.You can pay some points for his Ghost Knight retinue though.

Hmm. Odd that.

I shall have to rework my strategy then methinks.
