So I'm making a gue'vesa battlesuit that will be a counts as Sentinel with all of its weapons and wargear represented. Now it's being made using a mix of parts from differant vehicles and plasticard but I know right now even before I've started assembly that it won't be as tall as an actual Sentinel. It will however be taller then a Crisis Battlesuit.
Now even though I probably won't be playing any of you I'm just curious as to how many of you would have a problem letting me use the model to represent a Sentinel due to its height, also it will be mounted on the same size base as a Sentinel and besides its height will be relativly close to a Sentinels size. This is also disgarding the rule of cool . And I can't extend the height without ruining my design.

You can make crouching sentinels, as long as it's not much shorter than the crouchiest sentinel possible I don't see any problems at all.

I wouldn't have a problem at all. if you're really worried about it, figure out how tall it 'should' be and add a banner that goes to that height or something. But I personally think that (yes i know you're disregarding the rule o'cool) if it looks good, and not obviously you seeking an advantage it'd take a bit of a jerk to say no.

This is why TLOS doesn't work well in a game with exaggerated models that also allows conversions. Not that I'm against doing something like this - it's very unique and should be done more, but this sort of problem is always going to be accosiated with it and TLOS.

I agree Loki. I have a beautiful old school scratch built wave serpent (using a plastic spoon as a turrent. This was a right of passage in a way to play an Eldar Army in my gaming area.
I can not play it in 5th Ed as well as all the rest of my custom built models with custom built bases/stands because of TLOS and vehicle obscurement/cover saves for my custom units.
So they sit on the shelf as I game with standard models.

Also, how does one apply to be a member of the Ultramodrines? Are harsh trials involved, ones that would test my faith as a wargamer and resolve as a geek?
You must recite every rule of Dakka Dakka. BACKWARDS.

This is what I'm making
I'm going to be as accurate to the design as possible with a few differances. The creator of this image made it in mind that the Tau would create it for Gue'vesa using their own technology. I'm going to be making it on the basis that the Gue'vesa created the suit themselves using the upgraded technology given to them from the Tau. Now really the only things that are going to be differant are the weapons which will be Imperial weapons made to look like the Tau improved on their design, the aerial which will be replaced with an IG antenna and since the creator didn't detail the suits back I'm going to give it exhaust vents (not pipes) to represent that even though it's more advanced then Imperial tech it still isn't as advanced as Tau tech. So if the IG antenna makes the suit as tall or taller then a normal Sentinel would that work?
