Hey guys, I've started a Marines Malevolent army. I decided to do these guys because of the fluff, how they are on a long repentant crusade, so they are all beat-up, and have old equipment. I love this aspect because I love making every guy different. I ended up using FW bits, BA, BT, and I think DA bits.
Being as this is my first go with painting yellow, it has been a challenge. But after a few squads, I've finalized my paint scheme, which is Darksun foundation, golden yellow, then a sepia wash.

Heres the list I'm building to.
HQ
Captain: combi-flamer, power weapon
Chaplain: jump pack, powerfist

Troop
Tact squad: powerfist, melta, missile
---Rhino
Tact squad: powerfist, melta, missile
---Rhino
Tact squad: stormbolter, plasmacannon
---Rhino

Elite
Ven Dread: assault cannon, flamer
---Drop-pod
Sternguard: 2 combi-flamers, 3 combi-meltas
---Drop-pod

Fast
Assault squad: powerfist

That does it for my 1500 list, and to make it 1850 I'll add:

Heavy
Preadator: Heavy bolter sponsons, storm bolter
Preadator: Heavy bolter sponsons, Dozer blade
Preadator: Twin-linked lascannon, lascannon sponson

(Pic Heavy)
I origanally posted this on theindependent characters forum, but I'd figure I would open myself up to even more ridicule lol
Captain: I converted him but my brother painted him.

The chaplain that I converted. I am very proud of how he turned out

Sternguard squad, with 2 combi-flamers, and 3 combi-meltas. each combi-weapon is converted differently, i mostly used the BA hand-meltas/flamers

I also have another Tactical squad done, but it is at my house (I'm off at college) but that one my brother painted

Also, I'll throw in some of my "in between" projects.

A BT sword breatheren I've had laying around forever

A Howling Griffon I did for my brother when I was bored.

And since its my blog-thing, I figured I would show my collection of marines, it is a very mix-matched collection, consisting of Marines Malevolent, Howling Griffons, Space Wolves, and Iron Lords, we have a bout 5k points. (This doesnt include my 5-6k of Death Guard)

I have found that doing a blog like this has motivated me to paint more/post more often, so you can expect me to have some more additions within the week

The yellow looks great, but the black lacks definition, could use a few layers of highlighting and they would look awesome

Regarding the lack of highlights, when I started out, I didn't think that it would be a big deal, but as I've gone along I am feeling the need to put some highlights on the black parts. I did highlights on the Rhino I just finished, so I will go back on the marines sometime soon and hit them up.

More constructive critisim/ or compliments, are greatly appreciated!

Hey guys, I finished my Rhino/Razorback, and I think it turned out pretty well. With the rest of my army I've noticed that the black is pretty...well flat, so I'm gonna go back with some grey highlights.

I did some highlights on this Rhino, and alot of battle damage.

As you can see, I made it that I only have to flip the top hatch in order to make it a Razorback. (the guns arent painted yet)
C&C always welcome

The yellow has that nice, dirty, aged feel I think is appropriate for the Malevolents.

As others above have said the black needs to be picked out to give it the dimension the yellow. The models look unfinished with solid, flat black.

Hey guys, turns out I didn't have work today, and nothing else to do. So I had plenty of time to paint today. I finished the Venerable Dreadnought today, plus about half my 3rd tactical squad(the tact squad pics up when its all done)

Since I have had NOTHING to do this weekend, other than play campaign of COD (my live is fudged up, sad day) I managed to finish my third and final Tactical Squad.

I also switched a few guys around, so I gave my other Tact squad a Missile launcher.

Sad to say, that this finishes all of the minis I currently am able to paint. Because, no lie, I had to choose between models, and eating this month. Oh joy college lol

After I get my hands on some money, my next plan is to do another Rhino, or two if I'm lucky.

Just a quick update, I got some money last friday, so I figured I would get myself a Rhino.

With the extra bits, I added a top hatch/stormbolter for my first Rhino

All that I need to buy/paint now are one more Rhino, and paint/convert a Drop-pod for the Dread.

So I figured I'd do a little update, I am currently painting the drop-pod which the Dreadnought with be using. I orgianally wanted to do some converting with plasticard and make the DP wider to account for the Dread.
But when I actually got the kit, I decided it would be way too difficult. I'm sure I could do it, but it would take me a month and lots of blood and sleep would be lost.
I have painted the yellow, now I need to do the silver, highlight the black, and do washes. Right now I will say that I dislike painting this model, just throwing that out there.

Anyway, heres a group shot to show my progress, minus 1 tact squad, and a captain. (bad light in pic)

I also had some left over bits. So I wanted to do a command squad, which wont fit into my current list, in case I want to switch things up a bit.
I only have 2 guys done at the moment.

(I did the same bionic leg conversion that I did with my chaplain)

Anyway, more pics when I finish the Drop pod, whenever that happens.

(I have noticed in the pictures, that the yellow looks flat and I can't really notice any washes. I currently put a sepia wash on them, and I'm thinking of going over them with a heavier Delvin Mud wash, or perhaps a light Black on top of the Sepia, any suggestions?)

Hey guys, its been too long since I've worked on my favorite army ever, Nurgle. I scrounged around my bits box, and found enough bits for a marine, and here what I came up with. I tried for a little pre-heresy looking armor

The chest is sculpted using GS, I really didn't know what I wanted to do with it, and this is just what ended up happening. Also, I tried sculpting a skull on the PF, and it didnt turn out that well.

I also finished 2 Obliterators based on fantasy Ogres. This now brings my Obliterator count in my army to 6. A bit too many than I'll ever need, but I like converting them

His head is a noise marine head I had laying around, you cant see it very well in the pic

Just figured I'd throw this up. I'm hoping to start up some more Nurgle now that my Marines Malevolent project is winding to a close

Just finished one of my Obliterators tonight. It's been over a week since I've painted last, mostly because I'm stuck on my Drop-pod (Dont like the model)
So I figured I'd paint something different tonight.

The Helmet and chainfist are painted red because I have 2 other Obliterators that are Dornian Heresy Blood Angels, so I figured I'd have a little continuity with my Oblits. I'll end up painting my other guy tomorrow probably, but first I need to find a base to put him on.

Does anyone else have custom, or converted Obliterators? I'm always looking for insparation for Oblits.

I finished my last oblit today inbetween class. I painted him the same way I did the other guy.

And if anyone else has converted ones, I'd love to see them.

So I was browsing my FLGS and couldnt find anything I wanted, so I took a look at the Reaper Minis, and I definately found stuff I liked.

This one I think would be a great demon host, I think I will attach chains to her wrists, and wrap with razorwire.

These things were a fun side project for me, plus the fact that they were on sale didnt hurt either

I also picked up a Chaos terminator lord kit (one of my favorites) and I wanted to do a sorcerer, and wanted to do something different with painting.

I went with very bold highlights, and I kinda like how it turned out, since its so different from what I usually do.
