Hello all,
I just recently picked up Kantor and He'stan and I am debating which one would be the better choice as my HQ. I have had good experiences using Sicarius, but most of posts I have read do not really show him much love. So I thought to ask the experts (you all ) what they think of these 3 heroes.

Any experiences, thoughts, etc. would be appreciated!

Vulkan is the most widely used.
Good all round benefits and decent in CC.
Kantor has good all round benefits but isn't as good in CC
Not sure on Sicarius...

If you're looking at them from the competition angle, it's hard to go wrong with Vulkan. Twin-linking all your meltas and flamers is a massive boost, and he's not too shabby in cc either.

You mean 2 heroes? Sicarius is wannabee so it tells something about him. Kantor can suppory cc units and provides more scoring units. If you play shooty and cc army wich includes ths, mms and flamers of any kind, choose Hestan. I would go with hestan, his wery bslanced and worth of hes points!

Vulkan is probably the easiest one to integrate into your army. He's a bargain at his cost, and he's just all around amazing. Kantor is awesome, but only if you're fielding a lot of vets.

Sicarious is a bit of a curiosity. He's got some really cool abilities, but he doesn't stand up to the other leaders quite as well. You can build a decent army around him, but the other two leaders tend to be easier to build around with more direct results. Sicarius is in no way bad just a bit overcosted.

I love Sicarious. I field him often. I love a tactical squad taking a special ability. Infiltrating plasma weapons is really good >.> just fyi. I've also changed games with a reroll seize the initiative. On top of that.. he is in general a good combatant.. just nowhere near as good as vulkan. He's capable...but not amazing. Everyone (who likes him) tend to consider him a good Support HQ.
He'stan is generally better except for objective missions. I run a list of Cato/He'Stan with lots of tact squads and assault termis. It works well for me.

I think that Sicarius, unlike He'stan and Kantor, is much more of a support than an aggressive HQ. He'stan and Kantor are fairly obvious in their use, whilst Sicarius tends to buff the entire army rather than one or two units.

I think if you want to build a list around him, you really need to include at a minimum 3 x Tactical squads, and outfit them in accordance to the USR you may give them dependant upon the opponent. This also has the benefit of getting the most use out of his Rites of Battle. Other than that he's a fairly decent Captain, and his re-roll to steal the initiative can really mess with your opponent's plans.

It's just a shame that he's so *expensive*. At the same cost as Lysander and more expensive than both Kantor and He'stan, it's quite hard to justify his inclusion.

Vulkan increases your armies ranged ability and is a good CC character.

Pedro creates more scoring units and buffs CC units around him while being only average himself. he just makes Assault Terminators absolutly devestating.

Sicarus is nice in that you can combine him with either of the above and still fully benifit from both, but you can't combine Pedro and Vulkan. Sicarus plus Vulkan or Pedro is ok though.

To be fair (people complaining about the price of Cato)
For 200 pts you get a commander that varies your in game tactical options to allow for a lot of versatility for a unit who's main design is to be versatile. You get double the chance to seize the initiative and all SM models gain his leadership of 10. On top of that you get a 2+/4++ FNP IC with better stats then a captain and a Instant kill Power weapon attack and a plasma pistol. He's not fantastic but he should be up there in points (not 200 mind you)...but his wargear alone... put a normal captain at 145...so how do you measure FNP or The other abilities he has? if you do +15 for each ability he'd be over his current point set... UC's are good because they're crazy under-priced for what they're getting. He just isn't as crazily underpriced IMO. but thats me. he's not especially fantastic but he's not bad. I enjoy playing him.

My choice? None of the above. Special characters don't really fit my play style, would rather have combat tactics and a cheap librarian.

Sicarius helps razor back combat squads keep their leadership up. His effects are a less glaringly amazing than Pedro or Vulkan's.
