Do you have to kill the Fanatics to get the points for the whole unit? Say there are three Fanatics in a unit of night goblins. Fanatics launch out and kill stuff. i kill the unit of night goblins, but not the fanatics. do I get the victory points for the night goblins or not?

The RAW suggests by its wording that the fanatic is still a member of the unit. Now it is somewhat onesided in its description of the rule, but nowhere does it say the fanatic is no longer part of the unit.

Hey Arion, did you just play Big Mike's O&G or something? That question came up at the last tournament and it was ruled at the time that they are part of the unit. But I don't know what rule or FAQ or whatever they based it on. Probably just thought about it and made the call.

I thought it was spelled out that the Fanatics were separate units after release, but you only got points for killing the parent unit.

At least that is how it was in the previous book, I don't have my current book on my atm.

Yeah, I played his O&G at the tourney. Gork stomping all over my units wasn't fun. And I heard the discussion, and that's why I thought to ask. also, if they ARE still part of the unit, and I cast dwellers on the unit, it would still effect them right? That is just a thought. the way I see it, if you have to kill the fanatics to get the points then they are stil part of the unit. If they are still part of the unit, then any spell effecting the unit will still effect them, right?

Hmm, that's an interesting proposition.

Reguarding the fanatics, When do they have to come out? Is it when a model comes within (said) range?

I was wondering if I cast Skitterleap on a engineer and I place him within the range of a goblin unit w/ fanatics does the Fanatics have to come out?

Yes, generally the first time an enemy model is within 8" I believe.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

I would treat the fanatics as an upgrade for the Goblin unit that spawns a model.

this model is worth nothing if killed.

you get points for the Fanatics if the parent unit is destroyed while killing the fanatics themselves isn't worth much.

like the Goblins really won't get hurt if a fanatic is killed because there is always another Goblin ready to get intoxicated while losing a whole unit will hurt them.

I say the fanatics are separate once released.... skaven weapon teams are deployed with their parent unit, then act on their own. However you get points for killing just the weapon team.

Your opponent only gets Victory Points for Night Goblin Fanatics when the concealing unit is Dead or Fled

page 53
The fanatics count as being part of the concealing unit until they are released.

So by the above two sentences, you do not have to kill the fanatics to get points for the unit, and only get points for the fanatics if you kil the unit, or it flees off the table.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.
