Apologies if the answer is blindingly obvious but I can't see any restriction in the GK Codex. I know you can't put Terminators in Rhinos, but could you put a 5 man squad in a Chimera (capacity 12)? And if so, how many could fire out of the 5 ports? 2 I would guess.

Thanks in advance.

A

Edit: For clarity, I do realise they can't take one as their own dedicated transport, I'm wondering if they can get into one after the game starts.

That's probably something they'll have to FAQ. I guarantee you it will be FAQ'd though. And I would call you a butthead if you ran with that.

If there is no specfic restriction in the Grey Knights codex, then it's not a problem.

Terminators can ride in Chimeras, counting as 2 models.
Dedicated Transports are only restricted on who they can carry at the start of the game.

Transport capacity and fire points are not linked, though. Terminators count as 2 models for determining how many can ride. This has no effect on how many models can fire out of the fire ports... it's purely for counting how many are aboard.

Thanks.

I've actually little interest in running with it personally as it would mean taking an inquisitor and a weakling squad, but I was wondering. I confess though I've never seen the problem with people 'exploiting' rules in that fashion, it's the ambiguity that irks me.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

I reckon if you can put Ogryns in a Chimera (which you can) then you can fit a bunch of terminators (which you apparently also can).

You could put terminators in chimeras in the last codex.

Unlike rhinos, they never had a prohibition against them.

GKT inside a IG (5th ed) chimera was a normal thing to do in those armies.

Yes as far as i am aware (and my friend does it all the time !!) you can put 4 (actualy 5 but keep reading) ogryns and a psyker in a chimera and they can all shoot out for a devastating close range any infantry fire power after moving 6"
you get a multi laser (1 wep allowed after 6" move)
heavy stubber as defencive wep
4 ogryn ripper guns
and the psykers 2D6 S6 psycic shooting attack

thats enough to do for most any light infantry squad that strays withing 18" of cimera !!

however nothing compared to 5 GK paladins in a chimers with 4 psycannons yes 4 you take a 10 man paladin squad with 4 psycannons (2 per 5 men) and then combat squad it putting all 4 psycannons in 1 5 man combat squad and put that in the chimera thats 16 S7 rending shots to 24" after moving chimera 6" nothing is safe !! although you do have to take an inqisitor to do it as mentioned but a small price to pay

...dude. 550+upgrades points of Paladins just to get that in a Chimera? Just get 10 purifiers, at least they're worth their points.

You also cannot get 4 psycannon on 5 paladins. Seriously, read the actual codex, not the "playtest" one.

But, since Purifiers aren't Relentless, you lose out on half of your shots OR your mobility.

They changed it so that Paladins could not take 4 Psycannons in a 10-man squad? I don't think so. If that is the case, then I seriously see no point in Paladins.

Unless of course you missed him saying "combat squad".

Missed the combat squad - still, complete point sink is not the half of it. And one "shaken" result and youre not firing from in there anymore.

EA lets your vehicle still move (dropping stunned to shaken), but you cannot still fire the embarked troops if you are "shaken"

However ALL actual GK vehicles can negate stunned and shaken - trying to recall if that affects any passengers as well...

The rules say that they are nullified and no longer count, so I would assume that means the passengers can still fire.

Apparently the mighty tech-experts in the Emperor's most Holy Inquisition have discovered the secrets of Minivan Folding Seats, allowing Terminators to fit their bulk into an otherwise small space.

Too bad the regular Astartes haven't contracted any Soccer Moms to redesign their Rhinos.

Isn't Chimera the best Transport in the entire game?

So let me get this straight...your throwing the best termis in a Chimera and running games with them and expect your opponents not to hate on you?

You, sir, should not leap to conclusions or throw around frankly rather childish insults.

Why would you assume that the question is not merely asked for interest's sake?

But quite honestly, I can't see why anyone would get upset about any legitimate tactic. But I suppose everyone has a right to their own emotional responses...

Well, armor 10 sides would have something to say about that...

As was said, it's a lot of points, and doesn't have Fortitude so Stunned/Shaken take care of that. Also, with only a 6" move (if you want to shoot the Paladins, that is) you're going to find it very hard to hide that AV 10. Also remember that the old codex allowed this (although you didn't have access to 4 psycannons in a terminator squad I believe).

If stunned/shaken then unass and open fire and mount up again next turn.

Can I just point out that I'm not actually doing it - I don't like weakling troops and their tin can tanks. It was an innocent question.

But I can't see a damn thing wrong with it myself, so long as it's legal.
