Hello out there,

predominantly, I'm a 40k guy, necrons and marines as it is.
As you may imagine, most competitive army list of those armies have leaders which act as force multipliers rather than kick-ass combat masters ( 'cept C'tan).

So, to speak, I'm most interested in the Warcasters / Warlocks who like to obliterate their enemy ( and be capable of fighting of even heavies) by themselves rather than support Jacks or Beasts for a new Army.
Warjack / Beast points are not a criteria.

I've read about the Messiah of Everblight, Karchev and Lich Lord Terminus already.
Are there other Warlocks or Warcasters to consider?

So you want a real tough guy then? If it's melee have you considered the Butcher? By the Butcher I mean Orsus Zoktavir both prime and epic.

Khador's Vlad
Circle's Kromac
Trollblood's Madrak (epic more than prime)
Legion's Thagrash

I'm sure there are lots of combos of guys but for casters that stand toe-to-toe with whomever I can't think of too many others. I would almost put Cygnar's epic Stryker but the ability that makes him hit ridiculously hard is really only going to be used once (or twice if you are very lucky or very ricky) and therefore I think of him more as a melee assassination caster than a "tough" one. Also consider that almost all Warcasters are tougher to kill if you camp focus and Warlocks are harder to kill if there is a beast and available fury for transfers.

Epic Stryker (Cygnar)

I don't think Skorne or Retribution has one that can go toe to toe with a jack, but the closest would be.

Ravyn (Infantry killing)
Tyrant Xerxis

DukeRustfield - There's nothing wrong with beer and pretzels. I'm pretty sure they are the most important members of the food group.

Venethrax vs most beast= dead beast
Reznik

Don't ever think this guys can just be let run on the enemy, thinking your something like a one man army

most of the time you won't box that jack in one turn, then the jack hit back....

Consider Prophet as well as the messiah version of thagrash. Yes its two less damage, but he can pull Excessive healing onto himself, preventing death of a thousand cuts, which is important if he's gonna be in the thick of things.

Karchev is deceptively army support rather than personally in tyour face, not that he's a slouch at 'in your face.

pSkarre, Terminus, pAsphixious, Kromac, Feora are all good 'in your face' casters to add to the list.

Being 'in your face' with a Warcaster/Warlockis actually quite a finesse technique, if your opponernts are experienced, in Warmachine/Hordes. If your opponent can handle the pain then you can wind up in big trouble very quickly.

pGaspy is IMHO the epitome of 'Casters. Relatively durable, solid spell list, and great feat.

A possible 15 auto hitting (all except the first) effective POW 20 (or more) hits are nasty as hell.

Bloody barnabas and Lord carver bring the big stick as well. If the new minion forces are of interest to you.
I personally enjoy Reznik and Xerxis.

There really is no perfect way to beat face with a caster by him/herself, but here is the list, as I see it, at least as far as being able to maybe knock down a jack/beast in one turn
Cygnar: eStryker
Protectorate: eFeora, Reznik
Khador: Vlad(both), Butcher (both) Karchev
Cryx: Terminus, pAsphyxious, Venethrax (sort of)
Retribution: Rahn (Yes, I know, but he can knock the 'jack on it's ass, and then pound it.)
Skorne: Xerxis
Circle: Kromac
Legion: Thagrosh (Both)
Trollbloods: Ironhide

Now, let me qualify this by saying that it is a really BAD idea to charge your caster into combat with a 'jack/beast unless you have no other choice. It is analogous to charging the Queen in chess with your King.

No love for the Mercs!

Gorten is a stout little nugget. Low on FOC sure, but hes solid all round wth a good feat and versatile spells. Crazy high Arm, debuffing feat

pMagnus, with Feign death has flustered more than one assassination run. With Powerful Attack to boost the sword, and knock downs from his mechanical arm- he lays down alot more damage than most faction players think he can(unless theyve been on the receiving end before...)

Drake McBain- actually has Tough, with Unyeilding and Gang Fighter he can be harsh when he engages.

Ashlynn-a finesse warcaster, but one that can be really effective because of her insane Def rating, and other defensive abilities mixed with her high MAT and weapon master with her sword- sliding her through blocking troops or jacks to assasinate another caster is an option where other casters have to smash through.

In 15 pt games, the muscle of the caster, and the ability to be more aggressive without as much concern of gettting overwhelmed can really favor certain casters. Whereas high points games like 35+ can really favor the buffing casters. So, not all casters are going to be super tough in all situations or point values.

Currently, anything is an option, although I tend to either Khador or Cygnar

Got to second Ashlynn, just ran some statistics and out of 30 rolls she averages 28.5 damage with boosted roulette attacks. The *lowest* she rolled was 24. Unboosted averaged 23.5 with a low of 19 (but she'd get many more attacks, even tearing into 2 or 3 enemies at once) Between the two of them I don't know many things that could stand up to her with her feat active, and for bonus roulette acts as a defensive as well (try hitting Def 17 with an average *boosted* roll of 7.5 ).

Automatically Appended Next Post:
ETA: I really really want a Warmahordes videogame now, just so I can watch video of Ashlynn dismantling a Juggernaut.

Since you put Rahn on your list why didn't you include pSorscha? She can freeze her target and then auto-hit with boosted damage 3 times with an extra auto-hit for good measure.
