Well my fellow Dakka users, we all have that fave squad and like to give them nicknames/squad titles. Share the glory of their names and deeds and lets see who has the most entertaining!

My own personal is for-

My 15 man(?) strong squad of Seekers, known collectively as 'Bolter Bait'

IG my 30 man power blob is known as the 'Ollanius Appreciation Parade'


And last but not least, my trio flamers known by my friends as 'flaming firey f**kers!'

I have a vindicator i have called Freedom Cannon...
May or may not have stolen that from someone on Dakka...

My 10 man Tactical Squad are known as the "Angels of Fury"
After they layed waste to an entire ork force in 6 turns, They didn't miss a shot. and I am serious they didn't miss always 4+.

Then my "Lightning Raiders" my 8 man Grey Knight squad that teleported in a Apocalypse game right in the middle of an army, they were surrounded and the beat the living snot out of the force commanders by instantly killing them with their force weapons XD.

Then my "Fail Tank." The Terminus Ultra (no longer in service) rolled all 1's for an attack. As per rules for the Terminus, It suffered a glancing blow. I roll 1 6, It explodes, it explodes 6" and it hit my terminator squad. KILLING 4 TERMINATORS out of 5..... Poor bastards I had to roll +2, instead I rolled only ones.... What a bad day. Needless to say those dice were destroyed as I threw them the next day into a fire. And the terminus ultra was destroyed and the Terminators were put into different squads....

My other squad are the Devil's Fools. A completely true story. This squad is a Terminator Assualt Squad, and they have 4 lightning claws and 1 thunder hammer and storm shield. So this one time I teleport them right next to an army of gaunts with a Chaplain and a Libarain all who are in terminator army, at the time I was running my entire first company, and alot of people were impressed and scared sh--less that they were facing an entire first company. So they teleport in right next the gaunts and the terminator assualted the gaunts killing all of the happless gaunts in one turn of combat! gaunts were wiped off the table! Then came a warrior brood, they died as well, then a carnifex.... Which then was killed by my thunder hammer Sarge and Librarian. Thats how they got their names. (The Liby later died.)

Then one of My devastator Sarge's "Mr. Procrastinator". This guy was named when apocalypse first came out. I was facing a necron player and at the time I only had my 2nd company. So what happens is this guy charges my Devastator Sarge's squad killing everyone but the sarge! For the Rest of the 6 turns, neither the sarge or the Necron lords (By that time there were 4 of them) were in combat with each other and none of them could hit him or wound him, when they did hit him, he saved himself with his armor save.... Then at the end of the 6th turn all the necrons phased out when I destroyed all the necron warriors and Monliths and the Night Bringer.

Then one of my named Squads "Pretty boys." The Vanguard of my army got this name after they charged into combat head first into an army of armored nobz. Needless to say all the vanguard which was 690 points were killed..... It was a sad day.

Then one of my most favorite captains of all time! "Altorick The Old Fart." This captain got his name after an entire campagin and every game he was in, he didn't do anything! he could never for the life of him get into combat instead every time he did. He was an idiot and kept failing his leadership everytime his squad got killed. I can imagine him raising his hands above his head and screaming away. Ever since then though his model has been scraped to make a tactical marine.

Then My favorite dreadnought. "Garane The Destroyer." This dreadnought got its name after a long planet strike game and killing almost every single chaos space marine squad that came across his sights (That were deepstriking). Then this guy got into combat with a Special Character called Abbaddon.... Needless to say Garane the Venerable Dreadnought killed the gakker.

One Valkeryie is nicknamed Black Dust

Since my Space Marines are supposed to represent a renegade secret society I nicknamed my Veterans 'The Illuminated', I also tend to clump my HQ units together and refer to them as the Illuminati Council

Another one is a unit I call 'The Irredemable' both as it sounds cool and that unit always tends to get the very worst luck

Finally my Sanguiny Guard are often referred to as Cenobites due to the fact that my secret society based army doesn't want to associate themselves with the Imperium or the Primarchs

Is yours the one I saw where the dozer blade was painted like an American Flag? That one's hilarious.

I don't have unit nicknames, but my Catachan regiment is "The Reapers" as they hail from planet Bolo of the Santosi sector. If you played Just Cause 2 you might find that funny, but it's a big injoke with my buddies.

after painting my IG army with a bunch of Irish flag shoulder pads, dozer blads in the orange/white/green and so on and so on. The mix bag of cadians, catachands, and others became the fighting 69th.

My friends nicknamed my Trygon "fething Cheese". We also nicknamed his Necron lord the DeTerminator (emphasis on the T) because he never permanently dies.

I call my blood angels army Dante's Inferno because they drop in and flame and melta everything to death

I call my gaunts...my gaunts
I call my different unit of SM by the color of their base.
"Yellow Squad fires at your gaunts, and red squad decides to run towards the carnifex in a suicidal attempt"

I like to nickname my Noise Marines the "Pink-and-purple Terrors" given their artistic (for Iron Warriors) and bright (for Iron Warriors) armour motifs.

My armored Sentinel is nicknamed the skull-taker sentinel, as it's killed everything he's been in close combat with, with a kick to the face.

I have a heavy flamer imperial guardsmen we call scarface (Because he has a scar on his face..)

Okay heres the story. This guardsmen who was a count as guardsmen who only had a spear got into single combat with The Chief Librarian of the dark angels! The Chief Librarian is shot by this mans lasgun the turn before. And lost 1 wound. And the special character missed every attack! Guardsmen struck the Librarian (in two turns of combat) and killed the Librarian! He was then promply prompted to a Karskain unit and given a lasgun ontop of his spear! He then in the next game fired it upon an ork wagh! Killing everything he shot at! Until he summary executed by a grot! Super Guard of Awesome now has memorial at our GW store....

Another time one of my Libys got his name "The Serenity of Flame" he got this from after he got the ability to literally toast an entire squad of space marine vanguard with his flaming template and his avenger ability. God Bless being an Epistolary abilities. This Liby is now one of my most favorites and I plan on sending him to England for the great marine swap!

How did you equip this dread?

I call my Capt Alrahem as "Captain Sidewinder" and thus his entire platoon is called "the Fangs of the Sidewinder".....

I've nicknamed my mates big units of Ork Nobs the 'Double Cheeseburgers' after a particularly nasty experience.

My mate rarely takes Ghazgull but for this particular game for a laugh ran 9 Ork Nobs with Ghazgull in a Trukk just to see what they could do. The rest of his army footslogged it.

He (spawnily, as it turns out!) rolls the Waaagh! mission from the Ork section of the battle missions book.

This meant after calling Ghazgulls Waaagh! at the start of the second turn he may continue his Waaagh for the remainder of the game.

So I've got Ghazgull and the rest of his footsloggers tearing round town fleeting 6" here, there and everywhere. And with a 2+ Invulnerable save for the rest of the entire game Ghazgull was officially getting on my tits.

Needless to say I didn't win.

Still brings a chuckle now and then. Although I've dropped the name now, as annoying as those Nobs can be there still pretty cool.

Kharn + 7 berzerkers in a rhino or LR= Kharn's Pretty Cool Guys!!!

One because of the Kharn meme, and two because no matter what happens, any turn that squad is out of thier vehicle can be summarized by saying 'Hah! that was pretty cool!"

My Assault Marine sergeant (soon to be promoted to captain) is called the "Bane of Skulltaker" because he's killed him twice.

My Autarch is commonly referred to as "the slow". His Shining Spears squad are "The elite of elite Eldar" with as many quotes around them as possible..
I still like to field them once in a while..

My fire warrior unit will only get the nickname "Ed" whenever I put Ed (a poorly painted fire warrior who has yet to die) in a squad.

Otherwise my Commander's name is Short Jaw for tearing apart everything that gets close to him, like they were falling into a maw of serrated unorganized teeth

Well my group has a few nicknames. My friend has an incomplete and unpainted dreadnought and as such has been blu-tac'd to the feet. So we named it Flopsy after the many instances in battle when it would fall onto its face

Then there's my bro's dread who he named Clunk because dreadnoughts are clunky

ANd then there's me ML scout who I dub the Fail-launcher because he can't hit anything, even with using Telions' BS6

In every possible instance refer to it as a 'hit'tile launcher instead of the 'miss'ile launcher. Seemed to work in my case hehe!

Or the rocket launcher. Ahem.

I had a stock guard sgt manage to wipe out 3 broadsides the tau were all painted red and the owner called them "the red army" so the tau player started calling the sgt "democracy", also knew a DE player who called his talos "cuddles".
