Ok so with the exception of the odd "monster mash" style list, most WoC armies seem to be very similar if not identical to each other, at least around here/ what I see on the internet. I have sorta back burnered my WoC army this edition and have been focusing on getting into some new projects and playing with some different style lists, but I really want to start rolling my forces of disorder again and wanted to convert some nice Chaos minis!

On to the point of this topic... Ideas for unique WoC lists! I have already expressed some of the different units I like to take (or at least like the idea of) in other posts around the forum, so I will list a few here and see if anyone likes them. Feedback will result in their addition or subtraction from my finished army.

Exalted-- BSB, mok, juggernaut, talisman of preservation (4+w), charmed shield, halberd-- 254

This guy is a BSB on wheels (legs?) giving him some mobility in addition to a 1+ armor save even without shield (which is why the halb was taken for str6 goodness) and has a 4+ ward and the charmed shield to help with no LoS. This guy would stay in the back field and provide re-rolls to my blocks and would charge in for support if needed.

Exalted-- MoS, steed of slaanesh, sword of swift slaying, dragon helm, shield-- 179

I posted this as a suggestion for anti-war machines once before and I really enjoy using him. Another option is to give him a halberd and a 5+ ward, but this version gives him re-rolls on his 4 str 5 attacks, which is really helpful with making sure a few wounds stick on the crews/ small shooting units this guy will be tackling in games. He enjoys a 1+ vs shooting and a 2+ vs everything else plus has a 2+ ward vs fire thanks to the helm, which was largely included for the bump to armor. The steed helps him vanguard then move quickly into the enemy back field.

With these two guys in my army, I figure I should add a Lv4 as general/ magic defense (mostly) with a little bit of casting potential. I mainly want a "fighty" Lv4, suggestions on how to make this happen?

Also, what other units are rarely taken/ unique ideas people have had for WoC that I could consider adding to this army?

All hail the attempts to make WoC seem less one-dimensional!!

I have a "monster mash" style list like you mentioned, and am converting up an ogre riding on a juggernaut (the rhinox from the ogre scraplauncher kit) for an exalted BSB on juggernaut. I think MeanGreenStompa is doing an exalted on steed of slaanesh for a slaanesh-themed army.

Both of them are pretty rarely seen now, and I think it'd be awesome to build your army around them.

As to a "fighty" sorcerer- WoC's are moreso than most, but in general, these guys don't want to see combat! Perhaps mounting one on a Manticore...

Awesome to see you trying to take an army in a different direction! Another rarely seen thing, for me at least, are knights, and they're still rock-solid. Avoiding blocks of warriors (particularly chosen) and marauders will pretty much make your army different from the standard, if you can pull it off!

The unfortunate part about the end of your post RiTides is that I love me some barbarian hordes :p so there's a huge pull toward running massive amounts of marauders.

I posted a potential list up, I have about half of it at the moment, but i am considering Msu approach, running 12man warrior blocks behind steadfast marauders.

I like the (idea so far) of a Level 4 on Demonic mount with Chaos Rune sword and big ward and magic shield. A LOT of str5 attacks (though less than a lord) with stomp and a great armor save is pretty nice. Pretty darned fighty so far as most army's characters go, but you do lose out on LOS. I would be fairly confident stacking her up against most characters short of the super killy lords (chaos, ogre etc) or a block of really elite infantry.

Can a sorcerer take a magic weapon? For some reason I didn't realize that, and thought it was only magic armor that he had access to.

Marauders can be sweet, Wehr in particular has some awesome ones . I also have a friend who is building a marauder horsemen MSU army. I don't know how he plans to get it to work, but he swears it will be scary (and he's usually right). Will see if I can track down his list...

Yea, casters can usually take anything but magic armor, and WoC Sorcs are not even limited by that. Makes them pretty darned fighty, though pretty darned salty too; it is easy to build a 500 point sorc lord without trying :(

Heheh the marauders are pretty, but awesome might be padding their resume a bit. I would be really curious to see how the MSU marauder horse army works. Could be really cool, or it could be comprised of tiny missiles who give up 200 points every time they contact the enemy. It would be awesome if it works though!
