Hello Dakka,

Is anyone playing a Kroot Merc army based on the Kompletely Kroot 5.85V codex?
Are others at your local store OK with this unofficial codex?
How does it play? It seems quite weak at first look.

Thanks!

It is actually fairly good, but you can't play it like ohter armies. They have trouble with vehicles, which can only really be solved by CC and evicerators. The only thing is though, if the table you are on has no trees, you are dead before you begin. Basically what you do is run for the trees, I find their snipers are good for this, and harass the enemy infantry with sniper fire thanks to the kroot ability to ignore trees in moving. You will need the blood totem of something or other, as you really need first turn.

I'm thinking about starting a Merc attachment to my Eldar and then adding on until it can stand on its own. Kroot make Tau cool!

I am unaware of this codex, I have a kroot merc detachment I made to play with the previous released rules (from White dwarf or somewhere). I'd be interested in checking out these rules, and if I don't feel like playing with them I could maybe pass on a bunch of kroot and kroot hounds to someone else

For the Emperor! Kill Maim Burn!... I mean purge the unclean!
