So after reading and reading over the past few months I've decided to test the waters and see how my next Tyranid list will work. I've started to stay away from Swarm type list because I always find that if you want a swarm list with Tyranids, Orks IMO do it better. So now I've come up with a list I hope to be effective and something a little different from how I've been playing them.
So here is what I've come up with so far.

Hive Tyrant Wings TLDx2 Commander

Death Leaper
Zoanthrope in a pod
Zoanthrope in a pod

Genestealers TSx10 ( Out Flanking )
Genestealers TSx10 ( Out Flanking )
Gauntsx10 in a pod
Tervigon Catalyst, Cluster Spines, TS, AG ( Out Flanking )

x3 Shrikes Duel Boneswords, TS
Harpy TLHVC

Trygon AG
Trygon AG

The basic plan is to try and sweep from one side to another, using the 3 pods and cover for the Tervigon and Genestealers. Shrikes while I think the points could possible be better spend, serve as the perfect counter assault and synapse web. I'm hoping that they are left alone, due to Trygons and placement. ( Keeping them out of sight and out of range when they drop and moving them in )

Anyone think this list may work as a all comers list? Any areas where I can improve? Thanks

I love this tactic, it’s the only way I play my bugs. But the down side is I haven’t been able to fine tune it. And wont take it to a tournament yet. But ill give you the info I have figured out first hand with play testing and number touching.

I’ve found that the game is table control, bugs have so many ways to take a unit out of the fight with out killing it. Not bug like I know, but it works. The best example is your tyrant, load it out with any what you want ( I like cc, because they are evil in cc now). But what you are looking for is the paroxysm, if you have 2 tyrants you are shuting down 2 units every turn. Even on the deep strike.

The tervigon has catalyst, if you drop in on one of your MC, only AP2 weapons can really do damage. I’ve had a lot of luck with this combo. don’t waste it on your gaunts.

And shadow in the warp is a wonderful thing, its not a big deal until your opponent has a psyker heavy army but when you are it helps a lot.

As for your picks,

Tyrant, expensive but well worth the points

Zoanthropes, must have, this is by far the surgical problem salver. I would say take more. There hard to kill and hit like a freight train.

Death leaper, don’t really know never played it. But wasn’t happy with it on paper. Would like to see what you can get out of him

The stealers, love this unit. But I’ve had a very hard time making them work, I’ve had better luck out flanking hormagaunts. There faster and hit hard as well. I’ve found you cant field enough of them. And they get gunned down to fast. (I’ve had people tell me this on this forum, but I learned the hard way)

Ok the gaunts, the best deep strike set up for them I’ve found is 20 gaunts in a spod, all loaded with devourers. 60 shots of pure love hitting the table any where you want it.

Tervigon is good I was using them as objective holders. And sitting in reserve. (kind of how you are using it)

Shrikes, I mod them up, and set them to work. Have got nothing back on them. Really disappointed. But haven’t been giving them a lot or play time.

Harpy….thought about it….haven’t run it, you need to tell my how he works out.

Trygon must have for a DS army

Lots of pods and sworms. My prob is I cant seem to get the numbers on the table that I want to see in a bug list. Ether with MC or mobs.

I would love to hear what you have figured out

The centre of a massive brood chamber, heaving and pulsating.

A Tervigon? In a deep-striking army? Duh?

Personally I'd say that you should go for full-on deep-striking.

Harpies would be better off if you took 2 of them.

However, you don't need to listen to me, as I have only ever played 500 point games, and have never actually won.

Single zoeys in a pod is not good, you need 2 or 3 in each one.

Deathleaper seems pretty overpriced to me. Why not go DoM in a pod instead?

Agree that tervigon is not a DS/outflank unit. Maybe go for 15-20 devourer gants in a spore in addition to stealers.

3 shrikes is too small a brood - you need to have 4 or 5. Maybe just run them with rending and scything due to cost?

Maybe look to take a gargoyle brood as a cheap screen for all those expensive winged choices.
