Just a quick suggestion:

As Dakka is a community largely composed of members from various locations/continents, for ease of use when searching, would it be viable to have forums for:

USA/Canada

AUS/NZ

EUR

or similar?

Not all members enter their location into the title or thread for ease when searching for a local buyer/seller of particular items.

What do you think?

I actually brought this one up myself a whiles back, but what it basically came down to was that it would be quite a bit of effort for Lego to code, and that it simply wasn't warranted badly enough to be worth the effort.

I believe it would warrant the effort.

For the majority of Dakka trades are GW product, once int'l shipping is factored, it is not worth a cross-border trade.

Unless the items are OOP.

i wouldn't like that. i would (and most users) would simply completely ignore the areas outside of their geographic area and the number of actual completed trades would decrease. while i personally agree with you that international shipping makes cross border trades generally not worth it but that's dependent on the item in question. as it stands right now, you have the OPTION of clicking on them if they're correctly labelled. if someone puts up that rare item you really want, you'll catch it despite the country tag.

if subforums were happening, i'd suggest separate forums for fantasy/scifi/historicals/non-minis as currently threads get very little "face time" on the top of the first page due to the shear number of bumped threads but i'm still not totally sold on subforums in general.
