Ok so I was already convinced that necrons get wiped out and do not get their WBB rolls after they die. My reasoning was because since sweeping advance says, "The destroyed unit is removed immediately." Being removed immediately made me think that they are removed immediately from the board.

However after reading this post from Stelek's blog he puts it in another P.O.V. and states that the "removed immediately" is just like "removed as a casualty" and they are then just turned to their side as normal.

Blog on the Necrons WBB vs Sweeping Advances below. What does Dakka think of this?

The Sweeping Advance rule, however, goes on to say that no rule or wargear, unless specified, can save them. WBB does not specify that they can roll after a sweeping advance. As 40K is a permissive ruleset, and there's nothing in WBB giving permission to use it after sweeping advances, you can't.

"Unless otherwise specified.."

Doesn't that negate what you said? Not saying your wrong, I could very well be as well. Just wanting to figure all the in's and out's of this. The WBB rule is an "otherwise specified" ruling then isn't it? Since it only specifies Power Weapons and double Str is where you can't use it?

WBB is an otherwise specified rule, but it doesn't otherwise specifiy that you can use it to get out of Sweeping Advance.

Rules such as the Tau Failsafe Detonator say 'when the unit would be caught up in a Sweeping Advance, instead...'. WBB does not so, in that situation, it has no effect.

Stelek is wrong on an argument that has been around since 5th ed was in place and they removed the *example* of WBB from the Sweeping Advance rule without changing the text of the rule.

While I think Necrons could sorely do with WBB after being run down in combat, whinging about the rules again and again isn't the way to get it....
