I really cant settle on what to pick up as my second army. its a couple more purchases away (while i finish up my CSM) but i want to decide before i get to the bridge.

Basically, heres each one i have ideas for :

Catachan IG : I really like the fluff, and models, and the IG codex is awesome
Traitor IG : conversion possibilities, and such
Grey Knights : I just like the models
Dark Eldar : Love the fluff, and I could have so much fun with the conversion possibilities
Space Wolves : Like the fluff, and really like the models and i can use bitz on my chaos
Iron Hands : i would have tons of fun with conversions, and could use the bitz on my chaos
SoB : i like the fluff, and they may be updated soon.

Basically, im in the hobby for conversions and for the fluff

I'd go with Dark Eldar - I think that the new models are awesome (plus, some models don't even exist, meaning you have to make your own conversion; I actually saw some photos of a Venom that are full of win); furthermore they play differently from your chaos doods.

Sisters are a great army too, imho, at least from a modelling pov: they've got Exorcists and all the cool gothic troops. However (I'm not up to date with the news so I could easily be wrong), wasn't the new GK codex confirmed to be the only new army book related to the Inquisition? That would leave the Sororitas armies in a bad situation, lagging more and more behind everything else.

IG... For me, it depends. I love the Forgeworld models of the Death Korps like everyone else, and for regular IG I'd try to make em like like this. I don't particularly like catachans but I understand you can throw in all sorts of cool details, like cigars, shades, cowboy hats...

For the others, I've got nothing to say

I would go with Dark Eldar. They are the least like your current army.
See for armies. You want your second army to be Something completely different than your first. For example. I started with Tau but than I got Orks...sold the Tau and went for Space Wolves.

Getting marines of any kind is still marines and CSM is still marines regardless of how differently they play.

Dark Eldar are nothing like marines in the slightest. I.G is similar to Marines in the sense that you got lots of tanks and you spam heavy weapons and things with AP 3 and 2.
With the Dark Eldar you can get a more Finesse army into your collection and something highly mobile, Deadly but fragile at the same time. So it will be good in learning how to Dance around the board
and keep away from your opponents.

Dark Eldar great to build with a lot of variation for converting. Also different from your CSM. Also great fluff.

Eastern Frontier Exploratores
224th Astra Legion (main army)
628th Praetorian Guard Cohort (wife's army)
827th Auxilia Cohort (ad mech fun)
825th Foderati Cohort (in the beginning army)
1212th Foederati Cohort - Jokaero (cause I like apes with guns)

I think an Iron hands force using the BA codex would be pretty cool! You could be fairly competitive and avoid some of the cheesiness. You could run potentially up to 11 Dreads.

Anything not wrapped in power armour. You have one already - Chaos Space Marines. Pick something different.

yea, I agree with what everybody has said about getting away from the plethora of t4, 3+.

You should only ever need one army composed of marines, more then that and its just boring.

I'd probably recomend starting to collect either Eldar, Guard, or even Orks. I dunno if I'd start tau until they get an update, currently they are a pretty hurting army.
