Subject: Louis Theroux meets America's most hated family... again!
Louis Theroux has paid another visit to the so-called "most hated family in America" and found his own image on one of their controversial placards.
Theroux made a documentary in 2007 on the Phelps family church and their controversial pickets, where they try to antagonise communities with offensive slogans and anti-gay placards.
In another week long visit to Kansas, Theroux met Steve Drain, a new member of the Westboro Baptist Church congregation who compared him to Pontius Pilate.
I enjoyed the first one, viewing tonight is sorted!
It's starts a 9pm GMT on BBC2, better get my arse downstairs!
Discussion/bile spitting to follow!

So... they burn copies of the qur'an now... AMAZING!
Burning one at the funeral of a muslims womans funeral, while arguing with the bereaved husband no less. Sounds like jihhad bait, especially with whats gone down in Afghanistan over the last few days.
I wanted to gouge my eyes out when I saw them performing those cover songs. I cringed so hard my face is now inside my skull.
Why do these douchebags keep giving these other douchebags more free press?
The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

You guys have your own people we look at and think the same way. I can remember a nice little story about a muslim cleric and his followers protesting a church in England with signs saying 'kill the pope' and the likes.
But the Westboro Baptist Church is the greatest sin in the current world. Their whole thing is that too many people focus on the kindness of god, but not his anger and wrath. They're incredibly negative and hateful in their teachings which is why they're also hated. One time their bus was attacked by people protesting their protest, they shattered some of the windows with stones and the like. So don't worry, we don't like them either.

There are lots of murderers and rapists in America.
Nobody likes these people.
I'm just saying, god should hook that up. I wouldn't be overly saddened by the news.
After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.

If god did wipe the Westboro Baptist Church from the face of the planet I would have to laugh at the irony of it all. The one church publicly advocating god's hate for people being wiped out by god would be funny.

Oh Believe me, the UK is far from free of it's extremists and I hate them as equally, it's definitely not just the USA however it is very posotive to see strong protests but..... mnyeah I'm not getting into a debate
Anyway thanks for sharing the links, I enjoy this guys documentaries
This is what happens when you couple religion with idiocy. It is funny because they keep at the "it's in the bible." There's a lot of bad in the bible. There is also some good things, I guess. But religion only absolutely infuriates me when gak like this happens. And Jesus Christ you can barely get under their skin. You can really only wait for them to die.
I mean what happens in five years when there is only the old man, daughter bimbo, and that one documentary dude? Are they really going to be so thick to continue and NOT realize the swathe of destruction and hate they have sewn?
I'd love to see the look on their face when they die and realize there is no afterlife.
Of course, in a stroke of bad luck they would be correct and I would be wrong and wind up in Hell with ole Obama.
Alright sorry guys, I had to rant, ignore anything that might have been inflammatory.
These are the tales of the Skeleton Warriors....

That's the thing though, a lot of people like to make fun of their protests by holding up signs saying "God Hates Figs" or "God Hates Tiny Fuzzy Kittens" or "God Hates [insert random object here]". The other popular signs include "My God Loves Everyone" or the counter protests are just guys making out in front of them. Basically they give religion a bad name and people call them out on it.

I watched all 4 with the missus because we like Louis Theroux..
Funny as always. What a pack of freaks they are, It sucks for the kids, what chance do they have? You have to admire the mental strength of the people that have been indoctrinated their whole lives and find the courage to walk away.
On that note, If a phelps can wake up and smell the coffee, why do we still have creationists?
I mean, can they REALLY believe it all after getting an education in the real world?
Or are they just weak willed?
We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

Lets keep this away from yet another string of rants about people of religion shall we?

i watched last nights louis and had only recently rewatched his original encounter with these so called religious folk.i was very pleased to see decent americans picketing the westboro protests.it was crazy how those people behaved at peoples funerals etc .to be honest im suprised these guys haven't had the gak kicked out of them on some of their protests.
im not an american but surely the freedom of speech does not entitle you to disrupt and antagonise soldiers families at sevicemens funerals.as for thier slogans proclaiming homosexuals and american sevicemen and women are going to be eternally punished/hated by god, where is this in the bible or is it just a twisted view of the scriptures?
i think all this hate of homosexuals could be down to the westboro minister having a homosexual experience as a young man and not having the balls to admit his either shame or pleasure in the incident.he doth protest too much methinks.
what louis is great at in all his documentaries is getting his interviewee off guard and making them tie them selves up with their lies etc.
as for their belief that they are gods chosen people because they harrass other so called damned people lol wut.
i personaly believe in god and the message of jesus but i hold no faith in the actual bible,a book written by men not god or jesus himself hundreds of years after events and altered and doctrined many times to suit different regimes etc.
if that means i am doomed to an eternity in hell (at least to westboro)then i accept my fate.
ok then my basic point in my opinion god is good, westboro isn't.

I feel slighted when Americans try to use that one. Your on about a Muslim. One of the few things I am proud of in Britain (oh and our beer) is the fact that most UK citizens (slightly less than Iceland but this is with all the Muslims as well) know that evolution is true. And 40% of Americans think that Creationism is true. Only Turkey is below you guys in the common sense department.
I mean, dont take that the wrong way, I love Americans and my missus is one, but if your going to take the piss out of a nations Religious people, you have to admit that the USA is in a pretty fethed up place compared to us.
But you have better weather, food and beaches, so its swings and roundabouts.

Not so much that Matty, but the fact that both countries allow fanatics to speak out is what I was going on about.
If you want to compare religion and the likes amongst different countries America is one of the most religious anglo-countries to exist, something to do with the Puritans fleeing England and Europe and founding half of the colonies over here I think.

I'm impressed. You managed to attack "Religious" people and a country in one post.
This is why we can't have nice things.
