Once upon a time in the Warhammer 40k universe, there was a Chaos God named Khorne. More than anything, Khorne loved combat and martial skill. His followers would not kill women or children, the elderly or the weak, as they simply were not worthy opponents. There was no glory in killing the innocent. They were simply ignored. Warriors of Khorne sought to spill the blood of worthy enemies and offer their skulls to Khorne, the Blood God. One could almost say Khorne was 'Noble'....

True story. That's the way Khorne was depicted in early WD mags and the first incarnation of Epic 40k.

Damn shame Khorne had to drag the Grey Knights down with him.

Khorne got Flanderized into being ALL BLOOD ALL THE TIME. The older thing is more interesting, but the idea that he and his servants indiscriminately slaughter everything fits more with the grimdarkness of 40k.

The honorable blood god is an interesting concept, though I personally prefer the dishonorable version who loves slaughter, the honorable thing seems like it would be better for Khaine (not that I know much about Khaine that is so if this is an idiotic statement feel free to tell me so)

Personally, I like Khorne's "new" direction. It's just more...chaosy. A noble Khorne just doesn't fill the void in my soul like an evil Khorne does.

I like the older more noble khorne. I dont like that in general ALL chaos marines are shown as just crazed monsters when that really isnt totally the case. With all the daring and successful raids that chaos pulls of it clearly show alot of planning and intelligent. They are just as devout to chaos as loyal marines are to the emp..They are just a little bit more hardcore about it... Oh and actually get gifts from there gods.

The domains of the chaos gods are far and wide, I'm sure you can still get away with noble Khorne worshippers. It's just that, that's how they usually start. Honour in combat degenerating into the simple slaughter of everything.

Psychopathic Khorne fits better when looking at it as one of the 'bad guys'. Martial Khorne is more interesting however.

The Duke Venalitor seems to fit the mould of the older Khorne, further suggesting that noble Khorne worshippers do exist. Not to say he wouldn't kill the defenseless, merely that he saw it as beneath him, and he strove for martial perfection in his swordwork.

This version of Khorne suits Chaos, but I model my character's fluff around the noble Khorne.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

I prefer noble Khorne. A legion of blood knights is so much more interesting than a legion of raving lunatics frothing at the mouth.

I am not sure on this one. In many ways the "noble" warrior can almost more of a Slaanesh thing than a Khorn thing.

It all depends on why you are trying to find "worthy" opponents to fight.

Are you trying to show how powerful you are by taking out the biggest baddest things you can find? (khornate Noble Warrior)

Are you trying to find an opponent who can give you a good fight so you can enjoy the experience of trading blows with them? (slaaneshi Noble Warrior)

The 3rd grey knight book does mention something about this...

they say that while blood is sufficient for the lower rabble that follow khorne, the very best offer up warship only by proving their superiority.

I think its like jolly ranchers vs fine Belgian chocolate. If you like candy, you'll take either, though anyone will vastly prefer the latter.

Khorne will take the blood of the innocent and worthy alike, but if you REALLY wanna gain his favor, you gotta offer up the good stuff.

After the orbital strikes, Thunderhawk bombardments, Whirlwinds, Vindicators, fusion and starfire and finally Battle Brothers with flamers had finished cleansing the world of all the enemies of Man, we built a monastery in the center of the largest, most radioactive impact crater. We named the planet "Tranquility", for it was very quiet now.
