I will be going to my first tournament ('Ard Boyz Prelim) and I would like to know what is acceptable for movement trays. I am newer to fantasy and thus have not bought any plastic ones. Currently I am using hand cut cardboard to assist in moving my models, they are unflocked or painted.

In 'Ard Boyz, where painting is not judged is this form of tray acceptable? Would cardboard trays be ok at other tournaments?

Thanks a bunch.

Generally - anything which doesnt slow the game down is fine. Especially hard boyz.

In other tournaments you may get extra points for painting movement trays etc, or you may be required to have painted, flocked, trays as opposed to flat pieces of board. TBH you can make them out of stiff card just fine - add a border from more card and it will help keep the models in. However paint and cardboard isnt always a good mix....

yes, anything that makes movement faster is good. Personally i use 1/8" ply with magnetic paint on it, and magnets under the bases.

Runnin up on ya.

I use this:

The owner's very nice and able to make any size metal tray you need; then I just put magnets in the bases of my figs and done.

Very reasonable prices.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do
