Lesser Daemon of Chaos

Hey Mates,

I've started basecoating and painting my Daemons. That means I have no conversion/armybuildingprojects anymore. Since I love converting enormous monsters most of all, I'm allready looking for a new project. All my lists to date have been godzilla-type lists, and this time I'm looking at Tyranid. I'm mostly about modeling options and new and insane ways to create the biggest beasts on the table.

Fluffwise I'm going to make an army of Megarachnids (the Xenos Horus fought on the planet Murder in Horus Rising). Basically spiders with Bionics...

As for the list:

255 Hive Tyrant, Hive Commander, Paraxysm, Leech Essence, Wings

160 2 Zoanthropes, Mycetic Spore
55 Venomthrope
65 Lictor

200 16 Termagant, Devourers, Mycetic Spore
175 Tervigon, Catalyst

160 Harpy

190 Carnifex, 2 Twin Devourers w. Brainleech, Frag Spines
170 Mawloc
265 Tyrannofex, Rupture Cannon

1700 points

To give an idea of the conversions: The Tyranofex will be made using the Arachnarok Spider, a Defiler and two sprues of Tau Hammerhead Guns

Anyway, since this is the Army List forum: any ideas? I know this list is meh, but is it insanely meh?

honestly, i think the tyrannofex is a horriable unit... it has bs3 so with only 2 shots from the rupture cannon it is unlikely to do much. tyranid shootign is best in large quantity becaus emost of it is bs3. to be fair though, it is extremely hard to kill and is pretty beefy in cc but at 265 points its just overpriced.

i would replace the terannofex for some more gaunts and another tervigon or anotherr harpy or some hive guard(so good)

other than the terannofex the list is pretty good. (i think i can see why you want to take the tyrannofex.... its an awesome conversion opitunity that should look awesome using the Arachnarok Spider and deffie.

Hmmm the Tyrant is probably going to die unless it has a Gargoyle shield which can be costly. I used to run a setup like this and found the Tyrant only lasts about another turn longer. I'm not running a Tyrant on foot with Guard which works a lot better, I would try this.

You haven't got enough anti tank. Venomthropes are handy but I'd rather take the anti tank but that's just me. Lictors though won't work until the next turn and if you take hive commader like you are it makes the Lictor pretty useless.

Carnifexes and Mawlocs always come in pairs. If you want shooty go Carnifex if you want combat go Trygon. Mawloc is hardly worth it as just a gimmick unit.
