YES! NO! MAYBE!
It all depends on your list.
Seriously, what's with all the storm trooper hate? Just because a unit isn't the optimal choice in a mechvet or aircav list doesn't mean it's bad. Storm troopers have multiple uses, but mainly as an annoyance. What I want to know is why termicide for 130 points is an AWESOME choice for CSM, but meltastormicide with IG for 105 points with REROLLABLE SCATTER is "bad". Sure, one less melta, worse saves and can't really threaten vehicles in CC. Guess what though? That's not combi-meltas!

And that's subsequently made up for by being two more bodies, having AP3 guns and being able to fire their meltas more than once. Who cares if they can threaten vehicles in CC, they've got melta!

Less melta, less survivability, and hotshot lasgnus aren't going to help you against vehicles.

Anyone really expects suicide units to survive the turn after they arrive?
Really, termicide gives you deepstrike + 2 meltagun hits, while stormicide gives you 1.3 meltagun hits. 33% less firepower at 20% fewer points. This is sounding like hair-splitting.
Plus, melta stormies aren't where it's at anyways, they're way better with plasma showing up and hosing things with 3+ saves.

I disagree about them not being able to threaten vehicles in CC. They come with Krak Grenades and the Sergeant can take a meltabomb. That sounds half decent to me. When they drop in they are a turn out from assault but so are Terminators. Seems Like a wash here as well.
Cheers,

I'd say if you have the points left over you can definately use them to take out artillery vehicles of the sort with the Meltas; Defilers, Vindicators, Basilisk, ect.
Just deep strike them in behind them and hit their rear armor. It isn't a 100% thing that it will work, but when it does it pays off.

Unfortunately the sergeant CANNOT take meltabombs. Still true about krak grenades.

You shouldn't be worried about the one bullet with your name on it, Boldric. You should be worried about the ones labelled "to whom it may concern"-from Blackadder goes Forth!

True, but terminators aren't too worried about a vehicle turning around and using a heavy flamer or bolter, stormtroopers are.

You'll find a lot of Stormie hate on these forums, with a dedicated few keeping the faith.
I run three squads of Stormtroopers in my AirCAv list. People here tend to focus on the 'deep-strike and take on a tank' tactic. Ailaros wrote:

As Ailaros shows, they do this reasonably well, but not well enough for some of the hard-core gamers.
However this is a very narrow use of their potential. I tend to drop my Stormies in the backfield around turn 3/4 to clear out any weak units holding backfield objectives, put pressure on advancing troops (AP3 works well against MEQ), and generally making a nuisance of themselves. Another dirty tactic is Ailaros wrote: showing up with plasma and hosing things with 3+ saves
The various mission tactics they can take further increases there versatility. Keep in mind what you want from them to tailor your choice of these. Also, try and think outside of 'deepstrike and melta a tank. I leave my Vulture Gunships and Heavy Weapon Teams to take out armour, as they are far more suited to the job.
Basically, look at your list and think of a role the Stormtroopers could fill. Use the dirty tricks that have been disclosed, and you should find ample reason to include Stormtroopers in your army.

as stated above, depends on what role.
most go with the deepstrike and kill a tank with two meltas. i go with the ten man/two flamer. i usualy use them to clear objecitives. the local meta game here is alot of objective markers. stormtroopers do a good job of clearing most units off them. two flamers, then 15 hot shots/ap3. makes for a good time.
