Heya Dakka,

I've got a fast question for you all; do you think the idea of a mechanized Sisters of Battle Army is contrary to their background? I've got a player in my gaming group who seems to think so. I don't feel that this is the case; the Sisters of Battle need mobility to hunt down and purge the heretical enemies of the Emperor, and to do so, they need speed and mobility.

This same player also told me that Shoota Boyz and Lootas were unfluffy for Orks as well, for a bit of background.

What do you all think?

I think your man there is a bit of a tit, frankly. Orks love big loud guns, always have done. And I can't remember a single thing saying that sisters wouldn't use transports en mass: I mean, they have Rhinos and Immolators, why wouldn't they use them?

Orks love guns, they just aren't good with them. As for sisters, almost every squad has an option to buy a transport. Counting the Repressor, 3 out of their 4 vehicles are transports. If he really wants his whole flamer and melta army to slog it out on foot that's his problem. 24 inch range and no transports = worst army in the history of ever. Take your rhinos and do your drive by flaming. It's what the Emperor would want.

Why should Sisters be forced to slog it across a planet/continent/city/whatever when they could rapidly redeploy through the use of their transports?

It depends on the order and the commander of course, as well as what resources they have access to at the same time.

Codex has a special Sororitas Rhino. Codex and novels feature them. Army lists have mechanised Sororitas lists for years.

Well, that's all the info needed that this person is clueless. Not all Orks feel compelled to seek the lofty pinnacles of Enuff Dakka, but a large number do. I would surmise that lots of Slugga Boyz just haven't saved up enough teef for a proppa shoota yet. The Bad Moonz, whose teeth grow faster, field almost entirely Shoota Boyz.

I would say the Sister's default status would be Mechanized.

Another golden quote from the same player: "Trukks aren't Orky". *facepalm*

Thanks for the responses, guys; I figured that Sisters would want to be mechanized (or in drop pods?) based on their highly aggressive operating procedures.

Indeed, you have to play Sisters aggressively to win. Aggressively yet intelligently enough to know that you aren't an assault army.

That's the crux of the matter - everyone except the Custodes and the PDF needs strategic mobility. If you don't have teleportation or combat-capable dropships, that means mechanisation.

@ Melissia - I quickly found out that being aggressive really helps playing as Sisters. I have been a Tau player for years and often mixed between part-defence and part-attack.

However what I'm finding with Sisters now is to drive 3 Rhinos full of Flamer totting Sisters and bring some pain down Combi-flamer/H.Flamer/Flamer = hurt. I really put the hurt on some Wyches last night ^ ^

I think that the only things that make an item, model or upgrade "sisterly" (since there's no analog to the term "orky") are the inclusion of the words "holy," "flaming," "fire" or "[insert Latin/Catholic term here]."

So if you want to field a SoB army with dedicated Rhino transports, I think it's perfectly fluff-compliant, so long as you put pseudo-Catholic iconography everywhere. Heck, the SoB has three variants of the Rhino available to them, all with Catholic or Latin names already.

When will this moment pass?

Not catholic.

Here's Sororitas iconography on rhino doors:

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Witch_Hunters/SISTERS-OF-BATTLE-RHINO-DOORS-AND-FRONT-PLATE.html

Sororitas iconography is just like other Imperial iconography, with the addition of the Fleur de Lys, and (rarely) the =][= of the Inquisition.

On the subject of FW, the Repressor is a SOB dedicated transport.

Yes, and despite being better in every way it costs the same as the Sororitas rhino, because of how outdated our codex is (we still pay fifty points instead of thirty five like everyone else)
