Defiantly the terminator, the Spartan is only better than him in speed; the terminator has better armor and is likely better armed

When storm bolter shots are relatively the same power as a brute shot, MC is screwed, overshield or no overshield. Spartan laser is akin to a lascannon, but terminators have invulnerable saves.

My opponents squad have survived more than any spartan could.

it really depends on the weaponry loadout on the terminator.

An assault terminator would probably lose that fight... the spartan would be fast enough to keep out of hand to hand.

Any terminator packing a power fist + storm bolter would probably die too... the spartan could close and probably kill it with an energy sword.

With a power sword + storm bolter, I would bet on the terminator... lethal at any range.

Multa guns would fry the armor and the shield.

I have to agree, if we are going by fluff definitions of Space Marines, its pretty widely accepted that Master Chief is inferior to a basic Tactical Space Marine. The humble Bolter is superior to most of the Chief's weapons, and power armor is far less flimsy then the paper mache that Master Chief wears- shield or not.

Of course obviously the table top tones down the Space Marines, to make them, you know, playable. and ALL FPS main charachters are over the top. Its in their job description...

Terminator, hands down. A Spartain might be able to beat one, but it would be from where the Terminator isn't looking.

Terminator vs Spartan? Terminator.

Terminator vs Master Chief? MC, plot armor is a 1+ invuln save.

Let's not even get Chaos Terminators in this house (fluff wise) that are 10,000 years old, packing ancient Reaper Autocannons spewing out unclean carnage onto all that oppose the power of the dark gods. He laughs as the spartan cowers in fear at the baroque monstrosity that easily doubles his own figure.

Too bad rules state that a roll of a 1 is always fail.

Had to fight a Terminator in my deathwatch game tonight, It was a brutal fight. Any Spartan would be hard pressed to output the kind of damage that Chaos Terminator put out.

True, if you take a netral approach, it's alittle more even. Terminators are tough, but they're slow and and cumbersome. A spartan stick a plasma grenade somewhere soft and that's it. But if the terminator gets a good shot or gets a hold on him, he's dead.

Depends. Ordinary Power Armour can wade through Tau plasma rifle fire. As we don't know how powerful Halo plasma grenades are (do we?), it's not certain that it'd do anything other than anger the machine spirit of the armour.

I assumed plasma grenades would be similar to a small melta bomb. I don't think it would go through the outer plating, but if you stuck it to the neck, or back vents, it could burn through and cause damage.

That was a fun read, and the majority consensus was still for the marine, even on the bungie forum. Note that their argument was for a PA marine even, not a terminator

The better question is who would win, Master Chief or a Space Marine.

I think my brain melted reading some of the stupidity in that thread.
The majority of it is "MY OPINION IS RIGHT AND YOURS IS WRONG LOL".

Anyway, I'm going to say that Terminator wins, unless it's the MC (let's face it, MC might be a lousy character, but +1 plot armour > +2 armour saves).

ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!! ITS THE MASTER CHIEF!!!! he would outsmart that terminator so fast! cortana would scan the terminator and give all the weaknesses to MC.
MC would then go onto attacking the weak points and winning.


now if it was a basic spartan he would just turn inside out and die.
