Subject: What size sheet styrene for ork armor plating on vehicles??

Hi everyone, I am going to scratch build 4 battlewagons. I am not sure what thickness of sheet styrene I need to buy(online), unless anyone knows where in Los Angeles I can find some and pick it up. I dont want it too thin where it wobbles back and forth and too thick that it has to be cut with a saw.
Thanks!

Anywhere from 0.75mm to 1.5mm would be fine.
Around the 1mm mark, you shouldn't try to cut right through on the first pass. Use the 'score and snap' method and then tidy it up with your tools.
(this is the procedure that results in the fewest injuries, and what modellers have used since time immemorial - well, the 70s at least).

one millimeter. It's what I use. Looks right and I don't need a saw, just a sturdy utility knife. Also the sizes in decimals should always be millimeters or mm for short.

Think like credit card thickness. That stuff is good for building vehicles.
Also a helpful tip from one BigMek to another, buy the thin yardsale sign for adding "metal patch plates" on your vehicles. Its rugged enough to hold up to use, but not so thick that it messes up the flow of your build. Not to mention CHEAP
Good luck and so us some progress when you get some

I use .040" for structure, which is roughly 1mm. Go a bit thicker (and be sure to weld the pieces together using a solvent-based plastic glue) if you're going to build large structures without much support, but .040" is as thick as you'll need for 90% of your work, if you're building BWs.
.020" is handy to keep around, as well, for detailing and adding curved section. I have a sheet of .010" that came in a sample pack, but I haven't yet found a need to go that thin, as none of my curves have had that tight of a radius (.020" will wrap around a quarter without needing to use heat, but much tighter than that and it starts to fight back). It definitely has uses, they're just not as common.

About the same thickness as Garage Sale Signs. Seriously, just buy them. Some are thinner than others, but if you are scratch building anything, they are a must!
