When I see you spam something...anything really...I want to just replace your list with the flip of a coin...because that's all you've turned your games into...
...while profiting the good people at Games Workshop.
Sincerely,

I think it has something to do with people running cookie cutter lists, and making the game go from being about strategy to purely luck...I think. If that was the case though I don't know why the thread name is what is is.

@ Ductvader, I disagree. I played Kan wall orks at my local GW, a list that spams every element it brings, and haven't lost a game with it in two years. I have a friend who I got to play a list mostly identical to mine, and he has only lost twice, once to me, in over a year. By your logic we have flipped a coin for three years and keep getting heads; while I've heard of statistical improbability I very much doubt that is what is happening here. Spam doesn't mean you auto-lose just because someone has the ying to your yang. While I see where you are coming from logically, if your army is entirely one spammed unit then your entire army has the weakness that that one unit has, and if you come against an army that exploits that weakness well you lose, while on the other hand if you come against an army that can't exploit the weakness you win, all the while discouraging most take all comers lists, as they generally can't do enough damage to spam army to beat it, I don't believe that you can so take the game out of the general's hands simply by army list selection in a game that is, at least purportedly, balanced. I'm sure others will disagree, but I don't think that 40k has degenerated into rock paper scissors quite yet.

There is a large percentage of 'tourney' and 'power gamers' on Dakka. The reason they build cookie cutter lists is because such lists are effective in the majority of situations they face. Similarly, when asked for advice, they will relate their experiences and what has worked well for them. Hence, a plethora of similar lists. Now, I understand where you're coming from. It can be frustrating to see the same units over and over again with little embracing of a Codex's options, but that is no concern of the people who want the strongest possible build from an army.
If you want more variation in the feedback you recieve, why not phrase your questions more specifically? For example, instead of "What is a strong SW list?" try, "I'm looking for a close-assault based SW list, but don't fancy Drop Pods. Can anyone reccommend strong unit compositions and transport experiences?" Hopefully you'll find more tailoured feedback.
Additionally, although there are a large number of tourney gamers on Dakka, they are by no means exclusive. Casual gamers, and players with themed armies are prevelant. However, my own experiences are mixed, and only of use to people posting specific questions. For example, "How do IG Stormtroopers play?". I can respond that my three squads give mixed performances. They occasionally do extremely well, removing threatening squads in the nick of time, but have also let me down at critical moments. For casual gamers, this is useful, as they can make a judgement call as to whether they want to include a more unreliable unit in their composition. For the tourney sector however, my response would be best summed up as "unpredictable effectiveness", and would put many off.
My point is, some players are looking for cookie cutter lists, some aren't. The site accommodates for both. I'm sorry they offend you, but then you don't appear to be their target demographic.

Man you must have played alot of people who don't really think too hard about what they are gonna field. Not saying your skill as a general is in question, but you would think after 2 years of running the same list, people would maybe catch on and try some different strategies when facing you. If people have tried to alter their lists to no avail, then kudos!

He realises the bonus of this is that he gets to join the club right?
In other news playing games of 40k is entirely optional.

Firstly, goto ANY internet forum about 40k, and youll get the same answers. Unless you actually say "I dont want a tourny build" your going to get the best stock answers.
