So I'm planning to make a very fluffy list for Grey Knights which will consist of a mainly assassin/Inquisitional force, but after writing up a 1500 point list I found out the price would be 340$.
So here's the list of metal minis I would need and be willing to convert for (I love Coteaz's mini so no subs there.)
3x Vindicare Assassins
7x Death Cult Assassins
2x Banishers with Eviscerator
3x Servitors with PC
2x Jokaero Weapon Smiths

I know on many of these I'll have to bite the bullet and buy the metal mini but can anyone think of good substitutes for these?
I was looking at the Empire Free Company box and was thinking I might beable to use them as the assassins if I give them each dual swords and make them look a bit more stealthy
any other ideas?

-Eldar Guardians with head and weapon swap make great assasins.

-Banishers could be converted from Empire Flagelants

-Servitors are easy as you just take any human figure (Catachans are a great start) and start replacing limbs with bionic looking bits

-Jokaero are pretty much limited to the official figure. If you built an interesting Gun servitor it could be a cool counts as. Also, if you are willing to go outside of GW, Here's a couple cheaper options

Seconding flagellants for any priestly-looking modesl, eldar do make a good base for assassins. Maybe look at third party models for assassins - you are looking for anything in a bodysuit basically.

By the way, you know you can only take 1 vindicare assassin in a normal game right? Each assassin type is a unique model, you could have a callidus, and eversor and a culexus for example, but not 2-3 of a single type.

You can only take one Vindicare in total? That sucks. I knew it was still being limited to 1/slot as opposed to 1-3 per slot like Sanguine Priests, but only 1 Vindicare in an army? That's ridiculous. Chalk up another fail to this codex... (pure opinion, because I love the Vindicare model)

On topic for the OP's question, what about arco-flagellants? I was thinking maybe Chaos Marauders from fantasy with masks on or Flagellants there too. And what weapons/heads do you recommend for those Eldar guardians? Because I have a ton lying around...

Sweet thanks for all the great replies, and that really saddens me about the Vindicare assassins.
So I'm thinking I'll be set with a Catachan box and the Empire Flagellant box for the assassins Servitors and the Banishers (Since I have some guardians lying about.)
I was wondering if there's a set that would have a few extra PC or if converting one from two Tau Plasma Rifles would look okay?

Assassins are Unique.

Frankly, fluffwise, it would be full pants-on-head if you could take multiple assassins in one army.

Assassins were always 1 per army. Only in apoc can you field multiples of them. It's actually a little better now, since we can field 3 different assassins, rather than pick only one.

I think DE Wyches would make better Death Cults than Guardians. Closer to the S&M feel and being a deal cheaper. For a Ordo Xenos Inquisitor you might even be able to use straight up Wyches and say they're pirates or enslaved DE.

Jokaero is the hardest, maybe a model converted up like an oblit and call it a variant of the Daemonhost?

I've also seen someone recommend the Sniper from the CCS boxet for the Vindicare.

I'd also like to thank everyone since I'll be saving 42 dollars and have the chance to do some awesome conversions.
