Yeah, the title is pretty self explanatory, so, are you?

Me and a few mates might head down, it should be good.

But hey laser guns!

Probably not. Auscon (in Brisbane, in just a little over three weeks) is looking like a much better deal ... makes travelling to Sydney for a one-day event much less appealing.

Approx. how many people go to games day AU if your having to ask a question like that on here then? Or was it just out of interest?

I'm going to UK games day in September, about 9,000 people last year, I always go with the local GW store now usually just to enter Golden Demon and see the other entrys and talk to the 'eavy metal team and stuff.

I play:
Imperial Fists - 9000 pts
Tyranids - 1500 pts

GENERATION 9: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

The last Oz Games Day was in 2003. From memory, it was supposed to have had around 4-5000 attendees. GW OZ spent a bit of time shouting about it being their most successful Games Day ever... and then promptly announced that there wouldn't be any more of them.

So this year is the first of the 'new' Games Days. New venue, new (higher) entry fee, and they've incorporated a tournament into it due to one of the big indie tournies being scheduled for the same day, so they just 'absorbed it'...

How any of that will affect attendance is anyone's guess.

Took the bus organized by the local GW stores down to sydney last games day, hell it was fun. I'll looking forward to going, but depends on my work schedule and such....

Not me.
I'm going to the Indie tourney that Insaniak mentioned instead.

Yes, GD would be closer and easier to get to.
It also costs me $75 to get into. WTF?

I don't play tournament level GW games, and have been to a grand total of 1 GWOZ GD (also been to a single UK one, and three Salutes) so it has nothing to offer me.

They haven't poached the entire tournaments from the indie - as GD is a single day event and the GW games are three day tourneys. They have poached the FIRST days's play.

Besides, I mainly go to MOAB for the dealers, and to catch up with other friends who don't play GW games. I don't need to pay extra to get into a venue to queue up and pay for GW stuff at retail prices.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

I wouldn't get on the GW organised Bus, due to a sensitivity to B.O stench.

Could you imagine the trip HOME???

What is it with mass gatherings of gamers and BO? They really need to learn about deodorant.

I'm debating whether to go to Games Day or Supernova. It really depends on who I can get to come with me...
