Here is the first vehicle I painted. I'm working on a Storm Raven based on what I learned from this vehicle. Sadly it is all in status while I move across the country.

Well, you certainly picked a "nice" kit to do as your first vehicle, drop pods are a pain in the behind if you ask me.

What I can see from the picture it looks nice enough but the model would benefit from some detail work. I'd suggest to paint a few details (like the "orb" on the central pillar and the odd cable or button) in a different color to brake up the monotony of the red and metal a bit.

The model would also benefit from some shadowing/highlighting (especially the red).

All in all certainly not a bad model, keep up the good work!

wait wait wait....you have 4000 points of blood angels, and no vehicles? Nice job, but it does need a colour other than red or silver.

Nono, I got other vehicles, just the first vehicle I have tackled painting. A large part of my force came from my roommate who picked up marines and tried them out but never cared for them. As such I got three built rhinos, two built preds, some bikes, couple of speeders, and a land raider. None of them have ever seen paint though, and I bought this drop pod with the intention of it being the first major paint job I have tackled. Once I get moved I'll post my Storm Raven. I have some in progress shots, but I'll wait till it is done to display it.


As for more colors, I agree. I didn't want to risk overdoing it for the first one though. Once the storm raven is done I have a couple of Razorbacks to build and paint, and plan on posting them up as well to grow better as a painter.
