Do i need to put toxin sacs and adrenal glands on ALL of my Hormagaunts for it to be WYSIWYG tournament legality?

Unfortunately yes though I have found that small dabs of hot glue made quick work of adding these to my Nid models.

Not really.

Are all of your hormagaunts equiped the same? if so, then as long as they are modeled the same it should be fine.

Do some of your hormagaunts have Adrenal Glands, while others do not? If so, these squads should be modeled/painted differently so it is clear which brood has what upgrades.

Most people only care about Wysiwys when it comes to Weapons and other Large pieces of wargear. For smaller things like Grenades and Meltabombs people can be flexible as long as you are consistent.

Well the rules are all of the brood MUST be equipped the same. like they all have to have the sacs and glands, so if some don't in the brod but most do, would i get away with that? I just don't like the way they look, but I like the effects the give, and i am putting together some more. so 16 have them, if 12 don't will i not be aloud to play that brood?

The "counts as" comes into play

If all hormogaunt units in your army have the upgrade, and none are "plain", then stating that every unit has the upgrade is enough for most people - they all "count as" the adrenal gland hormogaunts

If you plan to run some plain, some upgraded, then you CANNOT use "counts as" - so you would need to model the upgraded ones with the correct upgrade.

Most tournaments allow "counts as" - they key, as ever, is to make it so it isnt confusing to an opponent. And, as ever - the TO has the final say. NOthing we say has as much importance as the TOs opinion!

I'd be willing to wager that most players won't even notice the difference. As long as you can tell in some way or another which broods have which upgrades, all should be fine.

I was talking about multiple broods of Gaunts, rather than one brood.

When it comes to modeling the most important thing is Clarity. If you are running all of your broods with the same upgrades, then it really does not matter what they look like as long as it is clear that they are Hormagaunts, and not termagants.

If you are running multiple broods with different equipment, you should do something to make them look different. This CAN be how they are modeled, it could also be how they are painted.

For example, you have a brood that is standard (no upgrades) and a brood with poison. The poison Brood gets their talons painted green instead of white. That is enough.

If you want some of them to have the glands, and some of them to not have them regardless of their upgrades, it will be okay as long as you Paint the differently equipped broods differently.

Example for a paint based system

No upgrades = white talons, Purple Carapace.
Just Poison = Green Talons, Purple Carapce.
Just Adrenal = White Talons, Red Carapace.
Poison and Adrenal = Green Talons, Red Carapace.

Some kind of system like this would be clear to the other player, and then you would not have to add bits to your models that you do not like.
