I recently bought a Catachan battleforce real cheap on ebay; when I got it I was surprised to find it to be an older one.

So I have two questions: in what edition did the starter have Black Templars, and why did the battleforces get smaller? This one had two sentinels, 25 guardsmen, 3 heavy weapon teams, and palm trees.

It turned out to be a pleasant surprise considering it had more than the current battleforce, I just found it surprising enough to share.

Four scholars at Oxford were making their way down the street, and happened to see a group of ladies of the evening. “What’s this?” said the first. “A jam of tarts?” “Nay,” said the second, “an essay of Trollope’s.” “Rather, a flourish of strumpets,” advanced the third. “No, gentlemen,” concluded the last. “Here we have an anthology of pros.”

All of the older battleforces had much more stuff in them. I wanna say the old cadion box came with the same but minus the walkers and add in a lemen russ. I think Tau and necrons are the only ones left with an older battleforce and they are also a good deal.

Didn't the original Necron one have a Lith in it?

It's been a while, so my memory isn't so good

On moon miranda.

3E had Black Templars in the starter, as well as on the cover of the book

Once the book started shifting format in late 2006 with the Eldar codex, the battleforces started changing as well.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

The Cadian one only had 20 Guardsmen. Dollar-wise, it was the worst bargain of any of the battleforces from that era.

Nope. The only change there has been to the Necron box has been tweaking the number of Destroyers in it... which, from memory, was actually an increase.

Yeah the Necron battleforce now is killer.

28 Warriors, Scarabs, 3 Destroyers is amazing when you can find it for about $70.

I built my force on that :0)

(well, mostly.. tradeda good few new recruits in too)

Of course the rest pf the range compensates for the cheap battleforce.. $14 per model elites and $20 per model FA..

At least the wraith units are tiny. A friend is collecting a wraithguard themed Craftworld list, and it's pretty slow going, financially. Ditto my MegaNob Krumpin Brigade (12 models and growing 0
