I'm starting a couple of epic forces, after seeing how cheap it is to build a good size army compared to 40k, and after reading about much more 'tactical' the game is.

Now, I've heard a lot of Space Marine players swear by a pair of Warhounds in their list. I looked around and found 2 kinds - the older Mars pattern, and the newer Lucius pattern.

To my despair, I found that the Lucius pattern is no longer available from forgeworld, and prices are through the roof if I'm looking to by it from other people.

Do the Lucius pattern warhounds ever come back into stock? Why were they pulled in the first place? Does anyone know where I could get a pair (relatively) cheap?

I know there were puled because the molds were deteriorating BADLY. I have one but the other one was so awful it was scrapped for parts and used as a wreck (and then chewed on as a cat toy when I wasn't looking).

Most of the Epic line was pulled when most of the Master moulds failed and when FW was bring SG casting back in house. The plan was to slowly bring back the line piece by piece, but they have been really slow at it. The Epic Aircraft and AA Tanks were saved by the fact that there the same models as AI. They do get Warhounds back in stock regularly, they just are sold so fast that they haven't bothered re-posting the info on the site. If you call FW and ask what Epic they have in stock its far more than what the website shows.

So to sum up, don't buy them at $60 a pack on Ebay. Spend the few bucks to call FW and order them.

Also this is the best Epic Forum on the Net! Its where the "Official" Epic development happens. ----> http://www.tacticalwargames.net/taccmd/index.php

And Yes Epic is awesome compared to the kids games (40k).

One more thing. If you order from FW, see if there is a GW store near you and have it sent there. They'll charge local sales tax on the order, but you don't have to pay currency conversion fees or the obscene shipping charges from the UK.

Ya it true. I always have my FW orders sent to my Battle Bunker. Hope you get the Titans you need.

Nope....Just call FW and order the warhounds. A friend bought some last week. They usually have them just not on the website yet.

I can second Angel's post. Give FW a call. They seem to have them in stock quite regularly. Though they sell out really fast.

Odd really. A miniature that sells really well is not advertised anywhere. Though looking at GW's advertising record it's not really surprising.

Pity the people who've been paying £40 on ebay
They've only been on the site for a day and they are already out of stock!

Argh! C'mon! So unfair.

Ah well. A bid I placed for a Space Marine army didn't work out, but I've been successful is grabbing some Orks and IG. Looks like I'll go with those two instead. Think I should still get the Warhounds?

Yes my good sir, I would still pick them up. Although personally I like the Mars patteren (older metal) ones better. In 2nd edition epic you could also give them a ball and chain on each arm and run them around smashing buildings and anything that got in their way, fun times. =o]

The FW ones are great models and might fit in with TW if you decide to do 6mm scale. A friend of mine and myself are writing sceneros for this.

No you couldn't. The rules for 2nd edition Epic say you can only fit the following five weapons on a warhound: Rocket Launcher, Turbo Laser, Plasma Blastgun, Inferno Gun, Vulcan Mega Bolter. Naughty Naughty, fitting a Warhound with Wreckers
