Trying to figure what is a better. A SAG Mek in a unit of grots or a Warphead in a unit of shootas. I'm trying to build a list and am looking to pick some HQ choices, but I want it to be fun and semi competitive.

Depends a lot on the rest of your list...

both choices will be really random though, doing really odd things. The warphead is unreliable, but none of the things you can get are bad (except maybe 1..., which if spaced correctly will only hit 1 model in the unit)

The shock attack gun is actually quite scary looking... simply because of the AP2. The issue is that almost all of the the doubles rolls are a BAD thing, and really weighs down on its effectiveness. Kill the bigmek and his unit, big mek shoots at your units (either nearest or opponents choice) becomes S6 AP6 small blast, charges the target unit (which may or may not be that bad a thing), only use the hole of the template... and it can't fire next turn... honestly, none of these sound beneficial, and they are all very likely to happen.

Fluffwise, the bigmek just because of the catastrophic things it may do to itself. Gamewise, the warphead (only using the choices given)

They both are good and bad. I like them both because on top of your ememy not knowing what is about to have , neither do you ! very Orkish. I laugh a lot while playing my orks and cuss just as much. These 2 guys are the main reason too. I would take the Warhead over the Mek-Sag. If you are going to be playing against the same army then one of them will be better then the other depending on who you are playing, Get both and PLay with them or use any model and to play as both until you have tried them.
