Just getting into warmachine with my son. Should we invest in No Quarter? What types of stuff is in there?

There are previews of upcoming models, some fiction about various facets of the background world, painting and modelling showcases and tutorials.
They also feature some tournaments, and give extra scenarios.

It really is all about the previews.
But once you have devoured the rulebook, you may want to learn more about the world.

It is an every two month publication.
So you can get caught up quickly if you decide to go after back issues.

Well, as with any magazine it´s hardly necessary.

That being said: Being a beginner (with Warmachine/Hordes) myself I quite enjoy No Quarter.

Especially the tutorials (both for painting and terrain buidling) are interesting and actually useful. For example, the first NQ I bough (#34) included a great tutorial for painting battle damage on living models (bruises, cuts, bullet holes and so on).

I got back issues up to #29 since then, and I wasn´t really disappointed in any of them.

Maybe you can simply browse in one of the issues in your FLGS and decide then whether or not you like it.

It's $7.50 every two months, so it probably won't break the bank if you pick up each issue - I personally think it's totally worth it. It's got a good collection of articles in each issue, covering everything from painting tutorials to terrain to fluff articles about the Iron Kingdoms. That said, I do find more value in some issues than in others - an issue that covers mainly factions/places that I don't care about, for example, will get read less often than one where I find almost every article interesting.
