Anyone else thinking about this when they saw the new Tomb Kings Necrosphinx?

Yes, I know my paintshop pro skills suck... This is not an actually conversion (duh), I just spliced together images. Hopefully the Sphinx model would have the right proportions. It's hard to tell from just the pics, but it seems doable. Obviously you wouldn't want those Termie legs sticking out...

Grey Knights being psyker marines could potentially be used (counts-as) as non-rubric Tzeentch Marines. With the right homebrew army fluff it could make for a very interesting army. Especially if you incorporate a lot of the new Tomb King bits.

Here's a mock-up I made a while back of the possibility to make alternative-style plastic Thousand Sons marines...

NOTE: I don't play Thousand Sons, so I'm hoping someone else will bring these ideas to life one day.

Id say go for it, but Im sure someone will pop up saying that you cant have a dreadknight, because everything the GK use is magically specific to them only.

There was a thread recently about using GKT parts for CSM T and the OP of it got jumped all over because fluff says no one can have GK stuff but GK...so by that theory you cant use GK parts to model anything non GK.

I do believe some people even said they would refuse to play against him because of it.

Whats my game?
Warmachine (Cygnar)
10/15mm mecha
Song of Blades & Heroes
Blackwater Gulch
X wing
Open to other games too

I guess those people have never heard of apocalypse. You can use ANYTHING from ANY army list! booya!

Apparently those same people are very very new to this game, because you can find quotes from GW staff all over the older White Dwarf magazines saying Warhammer is MEANT to be bended and house ruled all in the spirit of fun. It's all about what you and your opponent agree on.

Anyone who doesn't think it would be fun to play against an army comprised of unique conversions that are well made and had a lot of time, creativity, and thought put into them, has got to be the most boring opponent ever. They obviously have no idea what this hobby is all about. Maybe they should stick to video games... Oh wait, people hack/mod/edit those too.

I guess those folks are going to hate my possessed Dread Knight (using Soul Grinder rules).

Newsflash, not everyone exclusively plays at Tournaments!

Alot of people are doing 1k sons armies with GKs, so this is viable at least. However I think simply tacking the torso onto a DK breaks the aesthetic of both. I would suggest using the limbs of the DK, but the accessories and torso of the Necrosphinx. In particular the Wings would be perfect for a JP-equipped 1K sons DK.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

I'm a Dark Angels player. And I like the Thousand Sons style and story. If I was ever going to make a Chaos army, it'd be Thousand Sons based. And I had never thought to use DA robe bodies. Maaaaaan, now I got the itch!

And I think a lot of the new Tomb Kings stuff is RIPE for Thousand Sons conversions.

Repent. For tomorrow you die. (All is dust...all is dust...all is dust...)

Looks ALOT more workable than putting it on Defiler legs (Which looks awful). Just needs a bit of detail on the legs, luckily the Sphinx appears to come with loads of nice bits. One thing, i would agree that the Necrosphinx arms dont suit the model.

Those aesthetics really don't jive. If you're really good at converting and scratchbuilding, then I'd say go for it. At the very least you'd need to file off all the Imperial text on the Dreadknight though.

Thousand Sons hells yeah.

I got the 1K Sons bug last week, and I'm really trying to hold out on models for a while, until my university-strained finances rebound over the summer.

I think it would be a neat conversion, and Grey Knights seem to be perfect for a 1K Sons counts-as army. But you'd need a lot of preheresy armor or lots of plasticard. I'm really tempted to get a Tomb Kings box and kickstart a 1K Sons army now. Must ... resist ... urge ... Must ... keep ... credit card ... in ... wallet ...
