A couple of situations came up this week.

I had a battery of 3 Zzap guns about to fire. Was the correct decision to roll the strength separately for each gun or to roll for the battery?

While in close combat, my Flash Gitz (with cybork invuls) took 3 wounds from a power weapon. I made one save. Should that have killed 1 gitz or 2 with the remaining 2 wounds left to distribute. It was a S8 hit (on T4 gitz).

You roll for the battery.

I think you'd have lost 2 gitz, due to instant death, but i'm caffiene depleted right now. Anyone want to quote the rulebook

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

Asclam has it all right; Flash gitz can only be a unit of up to 3 wound groups(Badrukk, Painboy, Gitz) and all are Multi wound models so you would want to take ID-causing wounds on the Gitz, which would cause the loss of 1 Whole, unwounded git/unsaved wound(if you were out of unwounded gitz, i.e. only had 1 wounded git and allocated an ID wound to the git wound-group, then you could safely lose just the Wounded git keeping badrukk and the Painboy alive).

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Well, it looks like I screwed that one up.
After re-checking the codex, it specifically says battery.
Was unsure about the other one, but was pretty sure it meant 2 gitz dying.

If you think about it you may have missed out on 2/3rd the unit getting a stronger hit(or weaker, but we are talking about how detrimental it could have been to you, not beneficial here) and there was the possibility that you lost more grot crew members than you should have.

You did have the gitz-dying correct though

When removing casualties in identical multi-wound units, you first remove one unwounded model for instant death, if you don't have enough left, keep removing the least wounded model in the unit. Then you remove wounds from the most wounded model, until all unsaved wounds are distributed.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Well, it mattered little for the zzap gun. I rolled so many 4,5 and 6s (total) that I did not even bother rolling to hit the Land Raider I was shooting at. I think one shot out of 9 actually had a chance at doing anything.
