Just the first two of my Grey Knights overhaul. In addition to these two guys, I have 8 paladins made with the new plastic kit, and then a tonne of old terminators to repaint. Should be fun.
The new plastic kits are absolutely lovely, and make up for the abomination that is the codex. Great posability and bulk to be found here. I was considering using source lighting, but decided agaisnt it because I didn't want to have to do it for my entire army. Additionally, I opted to go with an autumn/winter basing scheme because I've done a lot of urban bases recently, and wanted to do something a little more natural looking.
In the case of the Grand Master, I'm running him with falchions for the +2 attacks, but if they get FAQ'd to only be one attack, expect him to show up again with just a sword or halberd. If that's the case, I might do a little OSL with him. Might.

How did you get the red of the tabards? I was thinking of something like that for my marines.

They look really good, but it's a bit hard to tell the Librarian from just another GKT. Could you push the blue a bit more? Or give him his psychic hood?

Vallejo red mixed with medium sea grey for base coat, dark areas by mixing with dark blue-grey, then wash with devlan mud and finish by highlighting with red.

Wow, they look fantastic! The deep, shadowed grey looks much better than GW's bright, shiny silver. Good stuff, indeed.
Any chance you could do a Step-by-Step "How To Paint Grey Knights" in your style? It's something the internet's lacking at the moment.

1.Prime white.
2.Start with some GW mithril silver, Vallejo dark bluegrey, dark sea grey, light sea grey, and US olive drab. I never keep track of exact mixing measurements, but you'll want to have around 40% mithril silver I think. I just eyeball it. Add the rest of the colours until you get the shade you want. Then just water it down a bit, and slather the entire model.
3. To highlight, add more light sea grey to each layer. Try to blend it while wet.
4. Once all that's dry, take some GW Asuraman blue, and wash the entire thing. Don't water down the wash. Apply liberally.
5. Once that's dry, take some GW devlan mud and do the same thing.
And there you go, Grim Grey Knights.

I'd actualy like to comment on the bases. I've see so many green bases lately. I don't think I've ever seen an autumn base before. I love them.

Ouch; complicated colour mix. Could you give us some ratios? It'd help me keep things consistent.
Any chance of some Step-by-Step shots on the above?

As I said, I don't really even keep track of my own mixes. It's all eyeballing. It's majority mithril silver and dark bluegrey, however.
Next time I'm painting the grey, I'll try to take some pics (I have two more to paint with the grey coat already on them).
