I'm playing BA, and i was planning to load a Drop Pod with an Honour Guard and 4 Meltagun as super anti-tank squad (they will go against Lemann-Russ squadrons that are usually hidden behind covers). The Pod will arrive on my first turn, and should usually land close enough to give me the extra d6 on side/rear armor without cover saves. Is this a good tactic? there are any units that can do the job better?

I have to say, it has helped me - and that was with a single melta, which took out a Vindicator which was messing me up something serious.

A team of four? That'd be a bane on any vehicle user.

Can BA take sternguard? If so, you could take a 10 man squad all with combi-melts in a DP. Drop the pod, combat squad, and pop 2 tanks.

it works good. i use it for salamanders, and it is better there due to the twin link. drop pod with a couple of meltas (or four) just wrecks it completly
