And so the Games Workshop reeled me back into this wonderful hobby with the siren call of silver-blue metal and promises of giant robots.
My first ever
40k army was Daemon Hunters, so the revamp and reorganization into the Grey Knights Codex was something that really spoke to me when I first heard about it a few weeks ago. So I summoned £400 and bought myself everything I would need to get back into the universe of
40k.
Half of that money was on modelling supplies :( but it's an investment I suppose, I plan to paint more than just this army.
Around £200 went on the army itself.
Apologies for bad pictures.
So Many Sprues
I purchased three boxes of Grey Knights in power armor, two boxes of Terminators, one Nemesis Dreadknight, Lord Kaldor Draigo, and the Codex.
The First thing I assembled (the first model I've assembled in two years) was the Dreadknight as he looked so awesome. Mistake. I should have probably started out small as this guy was complex as all hell to put together, took me three hours.
I glued the other plastic models in assembly line mode, Legs on bases > torsos on legs, etc etc. Not too hard but monotonous when there are 25 of them needing love.
Kaldor was simple enough, needed a little green stuff under his neck and at his right shoulder, but simple.
I then sprayed the lot of them with Chaos Black spray...
...and chose my first model to paint.
I made another mistake.
The Dreadknight was my choice again, and to say I've had no practice painting in a long time, the big guy turned out alright.
At present, I still need to finish work on the base and finish off the scrollwork.
UPDATE:
Drybrushed the plastics with Boltgun Metal, drybrushed again with Chainmail and washed with Asuremen Blue.
UPDATE #2:
Gave the power armor and terminator armor a very light drybrush of Mithril Silver.
Began tidying up the parts of the model which were not the silver-blue color with chaos black ready for painting.
