So a quick question--would a dreadnought with the Tank Hunter special ability (that's right, this is the BT codex) and a DCCW be str 11 against vehicles? I know nothing can be stronger than 10, but Tank Hunter just adds 1 to your armor pen rolls, not your strength. So technically, it'd be str 10 + 1 for a tank hunter when rolling for armor pen. Least, that's how I see it. But then if you gave a dread furious charge, it wouldn't do him any good, because that adds 1 to your strength and with a DCCW he's already max strength. Thoughts?

Kill the mutant, burn the heretic, purge the unclean!!!!

There are just three simple rules to follow: If I charge, follow me. If I retreat, kill me. If I die, avenge me.

"A Templar Knight is truly a fearless knight and secure on every side, for his soul is protected by the armor of faith, just as his body is protected by armor of steel. He is thus doubly armed and need fear neither daemons nor men."

It's not actually S11... as you say, TH doesn't add to your Strength, it adds to your armour penetration roll. So he would be S10 + D6 + 1.

Which also makes it why Tank Hunter doesn't work against a monolith. And why it is so important to not say things like "I know it's not actually str 11 but it's basically the same thing".

Regarding furious charge, you'd still get the bonus I, which can come in handy against things like Khârn the Betrayer, who would otherwise turn your dreadnought into a burning piece of wreckage. Now, he'll turn your dreadnought into a burning piece of wreckage with bits of Khârn on the outside. Unless he's the one charging you, then you're gone.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

Why would Tank Hunter not work against a monolith? The living metal rule for a monolith just says that weapons don't get an extra armor penetration die against the monolith, not that you don't get to add any bonuses to your armor penetration role for that one die you do get.

The updated/reprint monolith rule says that nothing can have more than strength +1d6, and even includes "no matter what" or somesuch, iirc.

"It is not the bullet with your name on it that should worry you, it's the one labeled "To whom it may concern. . ."

Oh, okay, just read the official FAQ on the GW website. You're right, no Tank Hunter bonus. There seem some inconsistencies there, though; 6's to hit the monolith in close combat, just because it's a skimmer? There's nothing in the rulebook about that! Also, large blast template for the particle whip? It's not large blast in the codex, only blast.

Blast is always large blast unless specified as "small blast". It's in the ordnance rules I believe, don't have page number.

As for the 6's to hit in CC, I think that's an old rule? I believe now all vehicles are hit based on their distance traveled in the previous round (if not immobilized).
