I noticed, perusing the pics from Forgeworld open day some pics of FW pre-heresey jump packs...

Does this look a lot like:

I would like to see Chapterhouse do anything about it, since it's GW's IP in the first place. I am all for other companies having the ability to make stuff that enhances the enjoyment of GW products without being subjected to a witch-hunt, but I think that this is pretty much an open-and-shut case. That being said, I really don't see the point of all this pre-heresy stuff unless they're gonna do a special rules supplement for it.

Well they may look similar but I believe that it is an easy enough design to come up with indepenently. After all, thay have just taken some jet turbines and stuck them on a backpack.

Of course they look similar. They're both based on GW's Rogue Trader-era Jump Pack design.

That also don't look THAT similar. Sure, that has some similarities. But they are obviously different.

^^ Exactly that.

It's a couple of jet engines attached to an armoured rucksack. Given the design parameters anyone would come up with something looking like that.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

*facepalm* (In fact, this is so stupid that I think it probably deserves a double facepalm!).

Talk about getting things back to front!

GW (and therefore FW) have had turbine-style jumppacks in their IP for a very long time, including the rogue trader metal jumppack and many many images in Horus Heresy: Collected Visions.

You might even say that Chapterhouse have ripped off GW!!! *gasp* (surely not, I hear you cry, for then GW would try and sue ...oh wait!).

Really?

I'm vaguely supporting Chapterhouse just to thumb my nose at the current GW management, but come on.

The backpack part of the Chapterhouse packs don't look like proper SM packs.
And, it's a turbine attached. There aren't many ways to model one of those, without ornamentation all over it.
