Please vote for the mechanicum to be a new 40k army a give a short reason why you would want them to be a new army. Please tell all of your friends to join dakka and vote. If the poll reaches 1000 votes, I will send an email to GW with ALL the reasons why. Hopefully they will make the Mechanicum an army at last.

I'm sorry, but GW is not going to care about 1000 signatures, they are a business and nothing short of everyone threatening to not buy their products will make them change their ways..

Maybe, but maybe not.
1. Its not just their names, its why they want the new army.
2. The chances are that GW aren't going to ignore an email that is around 500 lines long.
3. Its worth a try anyway.

I said yes, but I can settle with them adding mechanicum units to imperial guard codex instead.

If all it took was an email for GW to start a new army, they'd be bankrupt by now. Online petitions never work, even if they're done in this format. You're also probably not going to get 1000 posts in this thread; nothing against the thread, this is just one part of the online 40k community is all.
I personally would love a Mechanicus army since it's a very prevalent force in the fluff, with great modeling opportunities.

I've always said it would be a great idea, sadly it won't happen anytime soon however.
The army could look something like:
HQ
-Tech Priest Magos
-Tech Priest Enginseer
-Skitarii Tribune
-Combat/Gun Servitor
Elites
-Praetorian
-Electro-Priest
Troops/Transports
-Hyspasist Skitarii
-Sagitarii
-Cybernetica Robot
-Cataphract Rhino
-Cataphract Chimera
Fast Attack
-Land Speeder
-Sentinel
-Termite
Heavy Support
-Myrmidon Assault Engine
-Land Crawler
-Knight
-Thudd Gun
"Super Heavy" vehicles for Apocalypse games could include Ordinatus' as well.

I voted yes, but with some real issues about what it would look like.
I mean, most of the army would be the Skitarii (sp?) which are pretty much just IG vets with shiny augments and wear red. Sure, give them some new techno secret wargear, or each squad can take a laser monkey equivalent ect. How about their transport? Oh, chimeras and rhinos, hmmm. What if we gave them some sort of mechanic where they could remove shaken stunned or real damage with a dice roll? Oh, like GKs can.
What could we possibly give them that would make sense from a fluff perspective, that wouldn't just make them IG with all IoM mechanical support possible? Robots would be fluff murder (heresy). Servitor squads would be god awful funny, but not good. Titans would be OP.
So with all that in mind, I think that mechanicus might just be better being a count as based on IG (or GK henchmen list), or just come out as a Imperial Armor book (if it hasn't already, I don't have access to those books).

I would love an Adeptus Mechanicus army, deeply. I don't have the remotest clue how it would work rules-wise but it would be awesome, especially if done in a very steampunk style - clockwork tech priests in Black Templar style tabards as troops would be sweet. Essentially, I want non power armored Techmarines without all that Doc Oc business going on. I have read fluff in which the adepts' mechadendrites (sp?) are described as very slim and dexterous, as opposed to hulking great piston powered limbs, cool though the latter can be. I'd love to see something in the models that would represent the HUD; something like a plastic visor with runes all over it in front of their faces. I don't want much, I know...

No.
It would be another damn codex in the list of codexes that would slow down the updates to codexes.
But mainly because the same thing could be obtained with special rules built in to say the next spaz marine codex. Take Master of the forge, unlock servitors as troops. And other stuff. Ect, ect. Easy, done, not adding to the books and we already have models.

Yes, the Ad Mech is a massive faction in the 40k universe and certaintly deserve a codex.
far more then any other suggested race like the Demuirg, Hrud, or Kroot.
they would also be very different from the existing races. kinda steampunky, they wouldn't be a MEQ army, and they would have lots of interesting weapons and models.

I voted 'No' even though I love the fluff for Mechanicum, because IMHO there are plenty of existing older (and popular) codexs that need to be updated before even considering adding another codex. I like the idea of having lots of army chooses for a 40k player, but at some point you have to say enough is enough.

Some time last year after C: BA but before C E came out jervis wrote in his little column in WD that they wanted to add another army into 40k but they don't have the time at the momment with many codexs still not updated. They get asked this question so often. but if you ask me I reakon that after 6th edition comes out they will add in another army into the game, weather its mechanicum or something else is anyones guess. But this may just be wishful thinking on my part.

There's too much going on. Too many codexes need updating and at the current pace, we'll probably see a new version of 40k before everything is in line!
Simply saying "make a mechanicus army please" isn't all there is to it. They have to weigh up if there's enough interest, whether they have the time and resources available to work on a ruleset, whether that ruleset will fit in with both upcoming and past revisions etc. Balancing takes time, and if it's rushed, well, the results are apparent!
Then they've got to go about the busiiness of writing the stuff, background, articles, codex layouts etc.
After that they'd need to go through product design and arrange casting and probably a whole bunch of backroom stuff that we aren;t going to be aware of. All this would be done on the basis that people "might" buy a few kits.
Even if the entire 40k community stood up and said "give please", there would still be everything above to wade through, so it might not be possible even if they were open to the suggestion.
If they do plan a mechanicum release, it's going to take quite a while before we see anything. I think the sentiment of the thread is in the right place, but ultimately, it just isn't how the world works. I think we all agree that a new race would be fun, so don't be disheartened, it's just not as simple as it appears to be.
I would say by all means, continue gathering support and send an email, at least then you can sit easy knowing you've made your voice heard, but I think that might just have to be as far as you can take it.
For the record, I would love to see a mechanicum army, In 40k terms I don't know how it would fit in alongside forces like the IG and tau, which are the closest (although this may be a point to debate!) in my opinion to a mechanised army.

Why does everyone call it the mechanicum? Its the Adeptus Mechanicus, the mechanicum is old, pre heresy stuff.
Anyway, I think it would be cool, but lets let the codex scene calm down a bit first.
