What color do you paint the magnetic accelerator chute thing on your plasma weapons, and what color do you paint the heat shroud?

Blue-steel. I believe hydrogen plasma is blue, so I paint it blue. It's probably more realistic to paint the chute in plain gunmetal, and the shroud so it looks red hot.

What "ethnicity" are most of the models that you paint? Human-wise, anyway.

I usually paint mine to be "bronze," like a middle-easterner. I also give them red hair, lol. It's an interesting combo.

And what color do you paint things like plumes, tassels, bow-ties, etc.?

I usually leave that up to fluff. My Dark Eldar have red decorations, and my Iron Templar space marines have Blue and White decorations.

Do you typically ask yourself questions and then answer them? Maybe you're interviewing yourself? Just curious.

I paint the coils in blue or green, depending on how I feel that day:

Most of the guys I paint are white. I have a few other ethnicities mixed in. Yours sound like they look like Ganondorf!

My Guard aren't really the plumes and tassel types.

Gathering the Informations.

Easiest way to get an effective blue look that I've found for Plasma Coils is simply paint it white, then give it a very light wash of Asurmen Blue and Thraka Green.

Combining the two, you get something very nice.

I prefer successive drybrushes of blue to white, but whatever floats your boat, man

I painted Sgt Harker as a black dude... The dude looks way too ripped and tough to be a regular Caucasian Catachan. I dunno, Carl Weathers really inspired me to paint Harker black seeing as I was watching a lot of Arnold movies while on course... And who wouldn't watch Predator at least one more time!?

I was presenting the question to Dakka, then answering them in case anyone in the thread was curious. Now let me ask you: do you typically react with unwarranted sarcasm and make yourself seem like an ass?

keep it firiendly... i paint my plasma blue with a white drybrush and teal glow effect, the shroud i paint silver, the rest black
my models were mostly white, but ive started painting the new models black, for both diversity and ease of painting (scorched brown with devlan mud wash) and i cut off tassels, my guardsmen dont want to deal with another dangling object. and what model in the game has a bow-tie?! lol

Automatically Appended Next Post:
also, some models, when i get really lazy end up having a bloody face so i dont have to deal with washes

Maybe I'm just too lazy, but I will usually just paint the area Ice Blue, and then water down some Enchanted Blue and let it seep into the recesses. Just be gentle and only put it where it is supposed to go... it's not a wash and can make some marring easy to do. I would use Asurmen Blue wash, but for some reason it doesn't look quite right. I suppose you could follow it with a white drybrushing, but this way looks great to me.

Paint it all black and white and say you turned the colour off for today?
