Propulsion:

The Ratte was to be propelled by two MAN V12Z32/44 24 cylinder marine diesel engines of 8,500 hp (6.2 MW) each (as used in U-boats) or eight Daimler-Benz MB 501 20 cylinder marine diesel engines of 2,000 hp (1.5 MW) each (as used in E-boats) to achieve the 16,000 hp (11.8 MW) needed to move this tank. The engines were to be provided with snorkels also like those used by German submarines. Armament:

The Ratte's primary weapon would have been a dual 280 mm SK C/28 gun turret. The turret was to have been a modified Kriegsmarine triple gun turret, removing one of the guns and loading mechanism.

Further armament was to consist of a 128 mm anti-tank gun of the type used in the Jagdtiger or Maus, two 15 mm Mauser MG 151/15 autocannons, and eight 20 mm Flak 38 anti-aircraft guns, probably with at least four of them as a quad mount. The 128 mm anti-tank gun's precise location on the Ratte is a point of contention among historians, most believing that it would have been mounted within the primary turret, with some others thinking a smaller secondary turret at the rear of the Ratte more logical. Some concept drawings exist to suggest a flexible mount on the glacis plate. The tank was to be provided with a vehicle bay sufficient to hold two BMW R12 motorcycles for scouting, as well as several smaller storage rooms, a compact infirmary area, and a self-contained lavatory system.

I have known of the "Ratte" for some time, as it is an "Oddball" tank even though it was a concept only, and likely the inspiration for such things as "Bolos", which also inspired the "Ogre" combat games, although those were nuclear powered and sentient warmachines. The likely thing that would happen to a "Ratte" with no Luftwaffe support would have been the land version of what happened to vessel of the DKM with no air support, attacked, bombed into a burning hulk as the bombs penetrated it's upper deck plates. As it would have been land based rockets would have replaced torpedoes.

Well, as I told Briancj, the Big Bomma was not yet done, the antenna is basically "stabbed" into the plating.(Mek was trying to hit a naughty grot with it, and it stuck in nicely, so he decided to leave it there, and attach wires to the radio.)

Now then, rusty gun barrels all around, not just the turret guns.

the brunt effects of the engines to the sides of the plane are quite a nice touch! there sin´t much that this beast still needs to be done to?

Other than adding and scuffing decals? not much left, and then a sealing coat.

nawwww.... grots and orks are the most trustworthy sort out there...^^

and i think you should add a view orky smilies on the bombs too... there isn´t something as nice as going out with a bang with a smile on your face... now that could be taken the wrong way as i read that a second time

Got that sliver of copper on the stabilizer, so, now that you have been amongst the GD entries next to the Ork Mower and did well, and I saw some unusually "fresh" looking bommas, I wonder what you think my bommas could have pulled off there?

I just wonder what Gamesday Judges would say of either my Orky flyers if they saw them, Dave has had experience being under their harsh glaring gaze.

Every year, the judges are looking for something different to mix it up, last year it was all about small detail, the year before, freehand, before that, NMM. It just depends on the year.

lol... those bomb face... i really like them ...first i thought the shark one was the best but then i saw the goofy one... jilarious... and i like the matching slogans too!!!

the decals are a bit shiny still but i bet under game conditions no one will notice...
