Fresh of the press, RAPID FIRE makes its first appearance to the
GW BATTLE BUNKER!!
Team tournament with 1250 per player and a shared
FOC for each team. We got there and there were TONS of people, I think the total was 26 teams or something close to that. There were people from Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Georgia and of course the local Tennessee residents. Lots of really well painted armies and some really neat team concepts. The bunker specified beforehand that each army was in fact seperate for the purposes of special rules so no crazy antics. Every single army in the game was represented in some form or fashion. The best part was it was for 2 invitations to VEGAS!!! We didn't know that going in but that was a cool surprise.
Anyway here's our team's list: Flesh Tearers and Space Wolves

Round 1: Opponents were playing Ultramarines and
IG
Their army consisted of 3 Leman Russ Variants(Demolisher and 2 Battle Tanks), 2 Tactical squads(1 in rhino, 1 on foot), Assault Terminators Plus Chaplain in a Crusader,
CCS, 2 Dreadnoughts, 2 large platoons and 2x 3 Lascannon heavy weapon teams. They were a father/son team from the Memphis area.
Mission: Dawn of War/Capture and Control.......They won the roll and deployed 1 platoon,
CCS and the foot tactical squad and declared everything else would come in on turn 1. We talked about it and decided to bring all non pod stuff in on turn 1.
Breakdown- Massacre for us! At the end of 4 when we ran out of time we had our objective as well as their's. All of the
IG were gone except for the Demolisher that just refused to die to anything!!! The
SM had an immoble
LR and a
TAC squad left and 2 termies locked in combat with Libby and 3 friends.
Round 2: Opponents were playing Eldar and Blood Angels
They had Farseer with Storm guardian squad in Serpant,
FD squad in serpant, 2x
DA squads in serpants and 2 Fire Prisims paired with Reclusiarch and BIG death company squad in Storm Raven, a
JP chappy with Assault squad and another assault squad.
Mission: Pitched Battle/Sieze Ground with 3 objectives........They won the roll and set up very defensively and held 1 squad of
DA in reserve while the 2 assault squads decided to deep strike. We set up counter to them with the
LRR and Vindicator ready to push for the bastion in the center of the table and my Long Fangs hunkered down in cover ready to blast away!
WE SIEZE THE INITATIVE!!!
Breakdown: Massacre for us! We call it at 4 all they have left on the table is the Death company who is busy chasing down an empty Razorback and are on the opposite side of the table from all 3 objective that we are sitting on!
Round 3: Opponents were playing Necrons and Eldar
The team had 36 warriors, a monolith, Lord with res orb, tomb spyder and a BIG squad of scarabs paired with 2
DA squads in serpants,
FD in serpant, Farseer and Jetlock Council(6 total) a Fire prism and a squad of Dark Reapers.
Mission: Spearhead/Annihilation...............We won the roll and set up ready to try and down some skimmers in order to deny the Seer council cover before they got fortuned. They caslted in their corner with the Monolith blocking line of sight to all the warriors and Serpants hindering
LOS to everything else......There wasn't very much room for me to Drop pod in behind their lines but I decided to go for it anyway and risk giving up the pods as
kp to gauss weaponry!!!
Breakdown: This one was really close, their deployment really hampered my effective use of the pods to bust the transports for Donnie to eat the occupants! We decided to try and punch through and focus everything on 1 spot and make it disappear. We ignored the monolith the whole game and the seer council as long as we could. Turn 5 we racked up 6
kp and finished with 8 to their 6 which was good enough for the full win!!!
Us and another team had won all 3 rounds and it came down to painting/sportsmanship and bonus mission points. When the dust settled we finished second with 82 total points and they had 86. Their last opponent conceded therefore it gave them all 3 bonus points that round. They were playing Sisters Immolater spam paired with a hybridized(bikes/pods) White Scars. Their army was also not fully painted but they got us by 1 point on paint scores.....
It was a great event and we couldn't have asked to do any better!
Thanks for reading!!
