I just got my first models (Skorne warpack) and noticed on the beasts, especially the titan, there are gaps of about 1/4" where the parts are supposed to mate. Is this normal or did I get a bad set? If so should I call the company about it? I'm very upset over this, never before have I had such big gaps & so many of them.

I remember my Gladiator had some bad gaps which were easily fixed with greenstuff.

Thats the one it was. I just want to know if this is a common problem because if every time I buy a model I'm going to need to fill in several large gaps with greenstuff it stops being worth the time, and I will not give my business to a company that puts so little quality control into their product.

The Gladiator for me was the only Titan that had any major issues (I own 3 other Titans and have had no issues).

I have heard of Carnivians having the same issues, but don't own any so I can't say from personal experience.

There's a few sculpts that have fairly large gaps, but they're by far the exception rather than the norm. A lot of the Hordes models will still take a little bit of work smoothing out join lines, due to their organic nature, but for the most part there's nothing huge.

Khador warjacks used to be known for the "Khador gap", a space that usually needed to filled in on the top carapace. I never really thought about it, I just saw what needed to be done and got out the green stuff. I've heard that Skorne have the same problem on the titans, because of the organic nature of the body and the way the model is cast.

If the gap is that wide, definitely contact the PP front desk, they'll be happy to get this fixed for you.

Its not common that it happens, but with the recent pressure on thier production volume its possible a few slipped through thier QC process. I have about 125 pts of mercs, 80 or so Cygnar, and 75 ish Cryx, and havent had any issues nearly as bad as what you describe.

The Gladiator is the worst mini that is currently produced by PP in getting the parts to fit correctly. The are big gaps in torso parts and getting the torso to fit the legs might also be a bit hard. That fig needs some gap filling and there was an article in early NQ that had some tips on putting him together.

The rest of the figs are better, there is some gap filling especially in the larger models, but for the most part they fit together very well.

I have the same problem, however the Bronzeback goes together wonderfully!

I have a feeling it's just a matter of the Gladiator being one of the earlier hordes models, and being such a large multi-part model with organic lines it was difficult for them to get the pieces to line up just right.

Your experience sounds similar to mine (though far from catastrophic; the gaps are in very easily dealt with places like below the waist of his giant elephant diaper), but I have yet to see similar issues on any other models.

From what I understand, I have some of the more difficult Khador models (Behemoth, Berserker, Karchev) but none of them really gave me problems. I used JB weld which acted as a filler and adhesive at the same time, so it was a one step process that I go through with every models. I purchase a ton of used models that tend to break apart during shipping and even then, I have not found a single poorly designed model.

I think the oddest parts to work with were Karchev's smoke stacks. For some reason, they just would not fit right, so I ended up shaving the sides down with a file so they locked into his boiler tightly.

I dont know PP's process, and I havent seen the model you guys are discribing, but I would venture to say that this isnt necessarily a Quality Control Issue, but more of a design issue. If the mini suffers from bad design, and the parts do not join correctly without the use of greenstuff, and you recieve a part that does not fit together correctly without the use of greenstuff to fill in the gaps, then by all accounts you got a part that meets the specifications set by design.

Quality Control in manufacturing doesnt mean that you get a product that perfectly meets whatever standard you expect, it means that you recieve a part that meets the specifications given. I am sure the operators that run the molds for PP inspect the parts when they are removed from the tool, but I highly doubt they dry fit all the pieces together to ensure they fit without gaps.

The Skorne Warpack is well known for it's difficult assembly. If you search the PP forum, there are numerous threads from people asking about the Titan as well as the equally annoying Savages. The PP magazine No Quarter featured a modeling article on the Titan in an issue long ago, where one of the steps was liberal use of Green Stuff in the gaps you mention. Unfortunately, some of your individually purchased Titans such as the Sentry and Cannoneer have the exact same problem. It's unfortunately just a poorly molded/cast model, one of few in their line IMO.

As one poster on the PP boards commented, in a thread about assembling the Skorne warpack..."I put mine together using the awesome adhesive power of loudly shouted 4 letter words"

Skorne warbeasts as a general rule are not for beginners

theyre big fat beasts that if they were solid pieces, would contain enough metal to create a large warbeast and a lesser/light warbeast from other factions

since thats not a good way to go cost-wise they had to pretty much create the bulky bodies in "shells"

i found the best way to assemble them is to use a ball of plumbers putty and fit the pieces around that ball. I then just use greenstuff to fill in the gaps in fur and arms and other places

Hey, I just met you,
and this is crazy,
but I'm a demon,
possess you, maybe?
