As in the title, there's been an upswing in the amount of BFG going on at my local gaming club of late. I've always had an interest in it (c'mon! Giant spaceships! How is that not amazing?) but the lack of people to play with means I've never bought any. Now that I'd have opportunities to play, I'm thinking of getting into it. I do love the imperium (got an IG army already), and I like their fleet aesthetics. Additionally, I'm more of a heavy weapons type - I play an IG tank company, for example. In BFG, I'd much rather use a smaller fleet of larger, more solid ships than a large fleet full of little zippy things. (I don't mind fighters, though. Because carriers are usually pretty hyooj). So, dear Dakka, what would you advise?

A couple of Battleships and some Lunar class cruisers would be a decent start....

Don't forget though, you need to have 3 cruisers for each battleship.

Still, a battleship + 3 lunar class cruisers+ some escorts=happy days..

If you like guns.Big guns. Add Nova Cannons to your Lunars or change one into a Dominator.
Nova Cannons shoot 150cm. Can do 6 damage. More of a psychology weapon as it scatters. But hey, you said big guns.

Its been a while, but I recall seeing the following 1500pt fleet.
2x Emperor Battleship 740 (With Assault Boats)
6x Dauntless Light Cruiser 660
1x Commander with LD9 100
